answer text <p>It is critical that DWP verifies a customer's identity correctly in all circumstances. Effective identity verification and authentication, using commonly applied standards across the Department, will protect the personal data of customers and make a direct contribution to the prevention of identity fraud.</p><p> </p><p>DWP does require people applying for Personal Independence Payment to provide proof of identity. This is sought prior to processing a completed application form to ensure any benefit awarded is paid to the right person. This proof is initially sought verbally at the start of the claim process when the customer will be asked security questions from the information DWP already holds. If we are unable to establish Identity Verification verbally then DWP will ask the customer to provide evidence of ID such as a Passport or Birth Certificate.</p> more like this

answer text <p>There is no prescribed time limit for clearing Mandatory Reconsiderations; the Department’s focus is on making a decision as soon as we are able to. Timings can vary depending on a number of reasons including engagement with claimants and the availability of evidence.</p><p> </p><p>Claimants have one month to appeal their Mandatory Reconsideration decision. If an appeal is made the Secretary of State must provide her appeal response to the Tribunals Service within 28 days. The appeal will then be listed for hearing by the Tribunals Service.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Child Maintenance Service has a range of collection and enforcement powers, including deducting directly from a non-resident parent’s earnings; lump sum and regular deductions from a range of bank accounts; deductions from benefits; sharing non-compliant parents’ information with credit reference agencies; instructing enforcement agents to take control of goods; placing a charging order on property owned by a non-compliant parent and if necessary forcing the sale of the property; applying to the magistrates court to disqualify a non-compliant parent from holding or obtaining a driving licence or British passport, or to commit them to prison.</p><p> </p><p>The latest statistics on the actions taken by the Child Maintenance Service to recover funds from non-compliant parents are published in Table 11 (“Enforcement Actions”) of the Child Maintenance Service Statistics. This includes data from June 2015.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>This highlights different enforcement actions taken by the Child Maintenance Service, including the number of times each type of action has been initiated each quarter. answer text <p>As the Secretary of State announced in her speech of 11 January 2019, the Department has listened to concerns about the single payment structure and has committed to look at what more can be done to ensure that the Universal Credit award is paid to the primary carer in a household.
