answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/04/2014 answer text <p>Alabama Rot is the name commonly being given to the newly emerged condition in dogs, known by its clinical and pathological description as ‘Cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy'. Whilst this new condition, which appears seasonally, seems very similar to Alabama Rot, we do not know that they have the same cause.</p><p /> <p> </p><p /> <p>Investigation into this condition is being led by vets at a referral small animal veterinary practice and at the world renowned research organisation, the Animal Health Trust. These vets have expertise specifically in small animal medical cases. As such the veterinary practice, Anderson Moore, is best placed to update on the number of confirmed and suspect cases. The practice informed Animal Health Veterinary Laboratories Agency on the 27<sup>th</sup> March that 14 cases have been confirmed between December 2013 and March 2014. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/04/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>Animal Health Veterinary Laboratories Agency (AHVLA) and Defra have met with the Royal College of Pathologists, to discuss the new Surveillance model, on four separate occasions between September 2012 and the introduction of changes to the Surveillance model on 1 April 2014.</p><p> </p><p>A formal impact assessment was not required for this work because it does not involve a change in regulation. Submission into the scanning surveillance system is a voluntary activity that has no regulatory aspect. The Secretary of State wanted to meet young people beginning careers in the food production chain. In Birmingham he walked the production line on the factory floor with Mondelez apprentices, discussing with them and the Director of Manufacturing how a recent injection of £75 million is turning Bourneville into a world class manufacturing site. Mondelez is taking part in the Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) initiative, which is a government commitment to help companies overcome barriers to growth and investment.</p><p>Defra leads on the relationship with Mondelez, which has been chosen for SRM because it makes a significant contribution to the economy. The visit timing also coincided with the Big Bang Science and Technology Fair; the Secretary of State visited the Food and Drink Federation's stand and discussed how the food and drink industry, the largest manufacturing sector in the UK, is inspiring youngsters to seek careers in the sector. The Secretary of State concluded the day with a speech to the Harper Adams Forum, a student run body at Harper Adams University. However it is possible to provide an estimate. Defra's statistics on ‘The Area of Crops Grown For Bioenergy in England and the UK: 2008 – 2012' published in December 2013 include data reported under the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) on the volume of bioethanol supplied to the UK road transport market with information on the feedstock and the country of origin of the feedstock. By applying appropriate conversion factors, it is possible to derive an estimate of the equivalent tonnage and crop area of wheat grown and used to produce bioethanol.
