answer text <p>Where a Jobseeker’s Allowance claimant is required to participate in a Jobcentre course, they are given information, verbally and in writing, which includes details about the course itself, what they are required to do by way of participation, and whether they are still required to attend the Jobcentre and meet their benefit conditions whilst attending the course.</p><p> </p><p>There are some circumstances where DWP can excuse a person from the requirement to sign on, in order to enable them to participate in a course. This includes those claimants who are participating as a full-time student on an employment related course for a maximum of two weeks.</p><p> </p><p>However, in the majority of cases, claimants will be expected to sign on whilst participating in a course. Where conflicting appointments/course times arise, we make every effort to re-arrange claimants’ signing on arrangements.</p><p> </p><p>If the decision is that the claimant is to continue attending the Jobcentre and the claimant fails to do so, without having a good reason, their benefit may be sanctioned.</p>

From now until the end of October, we will be installing WiFi and new Web access devices (WADs) across the Jobcentre network. answer text <p /> <p>DWP has committed to introduce 0345 numbers and this started on major helplines in March 2014. The Department does not operate any prefixes that begin with 0844 or 0843.</p><p>For its enquiry helplines, the Department will begin adding the choice of 0345 numbers to their 0845 helplines where its customers call for other reasons, and these are calls that typically take less time to resolve.</p><p>OFCOM proposals for implementing change to 08 numbers are due to be implemented in June 2015. The changes result in improved charge transparency for some non geographic numbers including 0845. DWP will monitor the impact these changes have on 08 charges.</p> more like this

answer text <p /> <p /> <p>The DWP will be evaluating the benefit cap policy and, where possible, its impact on movement into work later this year and expect to publish these findings in autumn 2014.</p><p>The latest official Benefit cap statistics, available at</p><p><a href="http://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/341890/benefit-cap-may-2014.pdf" target="_blank">www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/341890/benefit-cap-may-2014.pdf</a>, show that by May 2014, 120 households had been capped in Brighton Kemptown constituency. Amongst the 54 households that are no longer capped, 17 have moved into work, as shown by them having an open Working Tax Credit claim. In addition to this there may be a small number of cases who have moved into work with sufficiently high salaries that they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit.</p> more like this

answer text <p>a) The Removal of the Spare Room Subsidy is estimated to save around £500 million per year in 2013/14 and 2014/15.</p><p>b) In 2013/14 total discretionary housing payment expenditure by local authorities across Great Britain was £176,393,889. This figure includes amounts spent by Local Authorities over and above their government contribution in DHP funding. At the end of the financial year, 240 out of 380 LAs across Great Britain under-spent by £13,285,430 against the available government contribution.
