answer text <p>Every local authority in Great Britain has signed a Community Covenant. Work is now being undertaken to embed and sustain Covenant activity throughout the country to ensure that Service personnel, their families, and veterans have access to the information and support they need in their local communities.</p><p> </p><p>In Northern Ireland, good early progress is already being made with implementation of the Covenant, and we will continue to engage with the Northern Ireland Executive to ensure that the needs of the Armed Forces community are met.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) continues to make excellent progress in implementing the recommendations of Sir John Holmes's Medals Review. For example, the Prime Minister recently presented South Atlantic Medals to those personnel who became eligible under the change of criteria recommended by Sir John. In addition, the MOD Medal Office has issued in excess of 13,000 Arctic Stars and over 7,000 Bomber Command Clasps.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Operational and Gallantry Medal awards for our Reserve Forces are judged under the same criteria as those for their Regular counterparts. The difference between awards for Reserve and Regular service is in relation to length of service.</p><p>The Volunteer Reserves Service Medal (VRSM) can be awarded to all Volunteer Reserve personnel after 10 years service. The Long Service and Good Conduct medal can be awarded to regular personnel below the rank of officer after 15 years exemplary service.</p> more like this

Member to the answer I gave on 10 October 2013 (Official Report, column 414-415W).<br><br>There are no plans to institute a specific award for those who were members of the Coleshill Auxilliers. The auxiliary units were listed as Home Guard units, and, as such, members who completed three years service in the United Kingdom qualify for the Defence Medal. In addition surviving members may apply for the Armed Forces Veterans Badge.</p> more like this
