The European Union Tobacco Products Directive 2014 placed limits on the sale and merchandising of tobacco and tobacco related products. This was transposed in to United Kingdom law through the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations (TRPR) 2016 and forms part of comprehensive regulatory framework to reduce public health harms caused by smoking. This framework acknowledges e-cigarettes are not tobacco products and has fewer restrictions than them.</p><p>To reduce the affordability of tobacco, HM Treasury continue to apply the Tobacco Duty Escalator to cigarettes at 2% above inflation as outlined in the Budget 2018, with hand rolling tobacco increasing by an additional 1%.</p><p>The Government has a statutory obligation to conduct a Post Implementation Review of the TRPR by May 2021. We provide a range of programmes and initiatives to support them, including:</p><p> </p><ul><li>Jobcentre support for schools, which targets young people that schools identify as being at risk of becoming NEET (not in employment, education or training), or who may otherwise be disadvantaged in the labour market – for example those with a health or disability issue.</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>The Young Person’s Supported Work Experience programme, which offers a personally tailored supported work experience opportunity for young people (aged 18 – 24) to enable them to fully benefit from time in the work place. This proof of concept is being tested in five Jobcentre Plus districts.</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>Tri-Work, a supported work experience proof of concept aimed at young people with special educational needs in years 10/11 in schools and special schools. This proof of concept is being tested in three local authorities.</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>The Local Supported Employment (LSE) proof of concept ‘place and train’ model, which aims to move disabled people into real jobs, at the going rate of pay, with support for both the individual and employer. This is being tested in nine local authorities.</li></ul><p> </p><ul><li>Supported Internships, which all qualified post-16 education providers in England have been able to deliver Since September 2013. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/02/2020 answer text <p>Along with the private sector, the Government will invest £1 billion in charging infrastructure – making sure that everyone is within 30 miles of a rapid charging station. In July 2019 work commenced to determine a vision for a core rapid charger network on England’s strategic road network. This will report in Spring 2020. Highways England has committed £15m to ensure there are chargepoints (rapid where possible) every 20 miles on 95% of the Strategic Road Network by 2020. Our jointly funded £400 million Chargepoint Infrastructure Investment Fund’s first investment round, worth a total of £70 million, will ensure the delivery of 3,000 rapid charging devices by 2024, more than doubling the current number of rapid charging devices.</p><p> </p><p>As per our manifesto, on 4 February the Prime Minister announced that Government is consulting on bringing forward the end to the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans from 2040 to 2035, or earlier if a faster transition appears feasible, as well as including hybrids for the first time. The position reflects the independent Committee on Climate Change (CCC) advice that the phase out date should be 2035 or ideally 2030, and that only battery electric or other zero tailpipe emission vehicles should be permitted to be sold after this point. The CCC has advised that this is an important step in the UK’s aim to end our contribution to climate change by 2050. As part of this a number of activities are planned:</p><p> </p><p>- Action on safety netting will be embedded among all healthcare professionals assessing patients with infections;</p><p>- Promote the implementation of a range of educational resources on sepsis produced by Health Education England and the Royal Colleges;</p><p>- Ensure a specific focus on sepsis education for staff groups such as community pharmacists, community nurses, health visitors and healthcare assistants in care homes; and</p><p>- NHS England and Public Health England will work with maternity networks and health visitors to ensure resources such as leaflets and on-line educational material are used by midwives and health visitors to help parents recognise serious illness in children and know what to do if they think their child is seriously ill.</p><p> </p><p>To support these activities, two safety netting videos on ‘Spotting the signs of sepsis’ and ‘Caring for children with fever at home’ have been published with the Health Innovation Network.</p><p> </p><p>In 2017/18 Public Health England’s activity to raise awareness of sepsis includes building sepsis messaging into the national Start4life Information Service for Parents email programme which reaches 430,000 parents of 0-5 year olds; distribution of leaflets and posters; social media and activity with a leading digital platform for parents.</p> answering member constituency Ludlow answering member printed Mr Philip Dunne grouped question UIN 112297 112304 question first answered 20/11/2017 11:58:24 answering member 1542 label Biography information for Philip Dunne
