unstar this property answer text <p>The number of regular Armed Forces personnel as at 1 April 2018 who report a country of birth that is a non-UK EU country is 4,660. This represents 3.4% of the regular Armed Forces who have a known country of birth.</p><p>The number of regular Armed Forces personnel as at 1 April 2018 who report a country of birth that is a non-UK Commonwealth country is 8,330. This represents 6.0% of the regular Armed Forces who have a known country of birth. These figures include personnel with a country of birth of Malta and Cyprus, these personnel are also contained in the figures in part (a) of this response (Hence the figures in parts (a), (b) and (c) cannot be added to give the non-UK total). Personnel reporting The Gambia and Zimbabwe as their country of birth are included in these figures.</p><p>The number of regular Armed Forces personnel as at 1 April 2018 who report a country of birth that is a non-UK, EU or Commonwealth country is 2,890. This represents 2.1% of the regular Armed Forces.</p><p>Country of birth has a 94.9% declaration rate on the Armed Forces administration system with 7,450 personnel with an unknown country of birth. Non-UK refers to personnel who do not report a country of birth that is either the United Kingdom, any British Overseas Territory or Crown dependency.</p><p>Although the country of birth may be non UK or Commonwealth, personnel must hold a British or Commonwealth nationality to join the Armed Forces.</p><p>Figures in this response have been rounded to the nearest 10.</p><p>For the Ministry of Defence's (MOD) civil servants, the civilian administration system does not make it mandatory to record their place of birth. Around 25% of MOD civilians have declared their place of birth on the system, which is not a high enough figure to provide a meaningful analysis.</p>

This investment will support and provide opportunities for the UK's Land and defence sector. To date only Shipbuilding and Combat Air have been selected for a specific sector strategy, other sectors (such as Land) are kept under review. unstar this property answer text <p>Last year's Armed Forces Covenant Annual Report to Parliament, published on 18 December 2017, sets out the progress made and future intent across Government and in the Devolved Administrations towards a number of key goals in the Royal British Legion's Manifesto. These include: confirmation from the Office of National Statistics that they will recommend the inclusion of a veterans' marker in the 2021 census; an independent review of the Covenant in Business in 2018 to identify and share best practice, and an intention to consult on statutory guidance for local authorities regarding housing support for divorced and separated spouses of Service personnel.</p><p> </p><p>Defence Ministers were pleased to meet with the Director General of the Royal British Legion, Charles Byrne, in November 2017, and will continue to drive the Covenant agenda forward across Government via the Ministerial Covenant and Veterans Board this Year.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

The Department seeks to measure morale in a robust, consistent and scientific manner, through forums such as the Armed Forces Continuous Attitude Survey. Morale is influenced by many variables and the Department has made no specific assessment of a relationship with resourcing.</p><p> </p><p>We have launched the Armed Forces Families Strategy and the Armed Forces Covenant to improve the Service Offer and lived experience of Service personnel.</p><p> </p><p>We are also developing a number of other initiatives under the Armed Forces People Programme which is focused on modernising the employment offer for Service personnel to allow us to attract and retain the right mix of people and skills.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>As at 1 October 2017 there were 15 Operational Pinch Points (OPPs) in the Naval Service, 7 in the Army and 11 in the Royal Air Force.</p><p>OPPs may come from ensuring that our personnel do not go over guidelines on how much time should be spent on operations in any one year, and/or a competitive job market for the trades or areas of expertise involved.
