star this property answer text <p>The department has no plans to suspend the use of sanctions in the event of an outbreak because – as is the case now - the decision to apply a sanction is considered on a case by case basis and takes into consideration the claimant’s capability and circumstances.</p><p> </p><p>When claimants tell us that they are self-isolating or that they have been diagnosed with covid-19, we will review the claimant’s conditionality requirements to ensure that they remain reasonable, helping them avoid sanctions.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>DWP has contingency plans in place that prioritise activities to protect payments to claimants and access to new claims when capacity is compromised.</p><p> </p><p>Our jobcentre staff gauge claimants’ financial need and as part of this, every claimant can access an advance of up to 100% of the total expected monthly award, which they can pay back over a period of up to 12 months.</p><p> </p><p>Proposed repayments of the advance are explained, and all claimants are advised to request a level of advance which is manageable both now and when considering the repayments required. We have announced that from October 2021, the repayment period for these advances will be extended further, to 16 months.</p><p> </p><p>Claimants can discuss queries about how fluctuating income effects Universal Credit with jobcentre staff and case managers, who can also signpost to services appropriate to the individual circumstances.</p><p> </p><p>Universal Credit takes earnings into account in a way that is fair and transparent. The amount paid reflects, as closely as possible, the actual circumstances of a household during each monthly assessment period. This allows Universal Credit awards to be adjusted on a monthly basis, ensuring that if claimant’s incomes falls, they do not have to wait several months for a rise in their Universal Credit award. Currently there are no plans to change assessment periods.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Government does not collect data specifically on employment rates for people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).</p><p>Estimates are available from the National Autistic Society (NAS), who suggest that 15% of working age people with autism are in full time employment.</p><p>Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is taking a number of steps to help adults on the autism spectrum into work, including:</p><ul><li>the development of an Autism/ Hidden Impairment Network across Jobcentre Plus;</li><li>the expansion of the Access to Work Mental Health specialist advisory team to cover people with autism and associated hidden impairment conditions;</li><li>work to implement autism specific opportunities on LMS, Jobcentre Plus’s IT system;</li><li>the introduction of a Job-Shadowing Work Placement Initiative for young disabled people (65% of participants in the first tranche had autistic spectrum conditions)</li><li>The formation of an Autism Taskforce involving disability organisations and disabled people.</li></ul><p>DWP has worked in close partnership with the Hidden Impairment National Group (HING) to produce an ‘Uncovering Hidden Impairments’ toolkit, which helps employers to recruit and retain people with hidden impairment conditions.</p><p>DWP is fully committed to the Government’s Autism Strategy. star this property answer text <p>The latest claimant count data is for January 2017.</p><p> </p><p>The cumulative claimant count figure for the offices operating Full Service increased by 25.5% in the 12 months to January 2017. The remaining offices operating Live Service saw an overall fall of 1.5% in the count over the same period.</p><p> </p><p>Universal Credit will tend to increase the claimant count because it extends our support to find work to claimants who have never received this support before. For example, people who, in the past, only claimed Child Tax Credit or Housing Benefit (and not Jobseekers Allowance) and now will claim Universal Credit, will be helped to prepare for and look for work. So will partners of Universal Credit claimants.</p><p> </p><p>The roll out of this support is more advanced in Full Service areas, and as we bring these people onto Universal Credit, it is to be expected that the claimant count will be higher than it would otherwise have been.</p> more like this

The responsible carer with a youngest child aged 5 will be expected to undertake work preparation, work search and be available for work.
