	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/09/2015 answer text <p>No such assessment has been made, however we know that there are links between mental ill health and social factors like isolation and family breakdown and that men in certain age-groups are more likely to present with suicidal behaviour. Suicide continues to be more than three times as common in males than in females, 13.8 per 100,000 for males in 2011-13, compared to 4.0 for females.</p><p> </p><p><em> </em></p><p> </p><p><em>Preventing suicide in England: A cross-government outcomes strategy to save lives</em>, published in 2012, identified a number of high risk groups who are priorities for prevention young and middle-aged men. The strategy recognises that factors associated with suicide in men include family and relationship problems including marital breakup and social isolation. The strategy recognises that those who work with men in different settings, especially primary care, need to be particularly alert to the signs of suicidal behaviour.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>A review by the Samaritans, <em>Men Suicide and Society</em>, published in 2012, also highlighted that middle-aged men in certain socioeconomic groups are at particularly high risk of suicide. It pointed to evidence that suicidal behaviour results from the interaction of complex factors, including a lack of close social and family relationships, personal crises such as divorce, as well as a general ‘dip’ in subjective wellbeing among people in their mid-years, compared to both younger and older people. The report also found that relationship breakdown is more likely to lead men, rather than women, to suicide and was published in February 2015.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government’s first annual report on the suicide prevention strategy was published on 17 January 2014. It highlighted a new agreement designed to promote greater sharing of information with friends and family of people at risk of suicide. The second annual report into suicide prevention was written for people working in local services.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In January 2015, this Government called for every part of the National Health Service to commit to a 'zero suicide' ambition to dramatically reduce suicides. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/09/2017 answer text <p>In the Antarctic, there are two main forms of ice, glacial and sea ice, which, due to differences in measurement approaches, are assessed separately.</p><p>Sea ice, formed from freezing seawater, is highly variable on a year-to-year basis, and over the last 5 years (2012 - 2016) the annual average extent of sea ice has decreased by an average of about a quarter of a million square kilometres per year. In March 2017 the sea ice extent dropped to the lowest level observed since satellite monitoring began in 1978— at about 2 million square kilometres, or 27% below the mean annual minimum.</p><p>In the 5 years to mid-2016, around 550 Gigatonnes of glacial ice, which is formed from snow, were lost from the ice sheet.</p><p>For a full understanding of changes in Antarctic ice, longer-term trends should be assessed. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/06/2015 answer text <p>There are currently a range of permanence options for children in public care, all of which can deliver good outcomes for individual children.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>For many looked-after children, permanence will be secured outside of the care system through a safe return to their family. In April 2015, the government made changes to the care planning regulations and the statutory guidance ‘Working together to safeguard children’ to ensure a sharper focus on a safe and successful return home for children where this is the best route to permanence. This included a requirement that the authority appropriately assesses the proposed arrangements for the child and sets out the support that will be provided when the child ceases to be looked-after.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Special guardianship or adoption offer permanence for other groups of children. Local authorities are responsible for core adoption and special guardianship support, including information, advice, guidance, training and financial assistance.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>To improve practice where the best permanence option for children is to remain looked-after, the government amended regulations in April 2015 to introduce ‘long term foster care’ as a distinct placement type. EDS falls within specialised services managed by NHS England.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK Strategy for Rare Diseases sets out the Government’s on-going commitment to ensuring that patients with rare diseases, including EDS, have access to high quality services. The Strategy is discussed regularly with health bodies including NHS England. The national specialised service for atypical or complex cases aims to reduce times to diagnosis and reduce the number of hospital appointments required to achieve a specific diagnosis.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Information about the average time from diagnosis to referral for specialist treatment is not available centrally. Patients suspected of having EDS may be assessed and diagnosed in a wide range of settings.
