unstar this property answer text
It is right that the public are informed of how and where public funds are spent. We intend that information currently made available through our CAP Payments Search pages will continue to be published after the UK leaves the EU. This will apply in relation to payments made in England under the legacy CAP schemes, using retained CAP legislation, until the planned end of our agricultural transition period in 2027, or until the legacy schemes have ended, if earlier.

Clause 2 of the Agriculture Bill contains powers to enable information to be published in relation to the new system of payments that will replace CAP schemes. This includes information on who receives payments and for what purpose. The exact nature of that information will be determined during the design process and in close discussion with stakeholders and across government. We will need to ensure a balance between transparency of public expenditure and commercial sensitivities.

more like this

unstar this property answer text
Defra’s national network of air quality monitors currently comprises 271 sites across the UK and is managed by the Environment Agency (EA). Sites are organised into networks that gather information for a wide range of pollutants in towns, cities as well as in rural areas. Some monitoring sites are focused on measuring specific sources – e.g. road traffic or industry whilst others are focused on background concentrations.

All monitoring data is made available on our UK-AIR website. Data from the Automatic Urban and Rural Network (AURN) is reported in near-real-time and is updated every hour. The website URL is: https://uk-air.defra.gov.uk/.

In addition, local authorities submit their monitoring data and local actions to Defra in their Annual Status Reports. This is a requirement under the Local Air Quality Management process, underpinned by the Environment Act 1995.

more like this
