We want that contribution to continue and we are confident, given the quality of our higher education sector, that it will. We have agreed with the EU that current EU principles of equal treatment and non-discrimination will apply during the implementation period.</p><p> </p><p>We have agreed as part of the Withdrawal Agreement with the EU that those who are resident in the UK before the end of the implementation period will have a right to apply for leave to remain in the UK thereafter. Those within scope of the Withdrawal Agreement and who meet the relevant eligibility requirements will have access to home fees status and student loans after the end of the implementation period.</p><p> </p><p>We recognise how important it is that students and institutions have information on eligibility for student support before applications for courses open. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/05/2018 answer text <p>The government has made good progress on implementing the Higher Education and Research Act 2017 (HERA).</p><p> </p><p>To date, we have laid five pieces of secondary legislation. They have established the Office for Students (OfS) and given it powers to run the new regulatory system. They will also enable OfS to run the current system in the transitional period, which started on 1 April 2018 and will end on 31 July 2019. The new system will be fully operational on 1 August 2019, which will allow for a smooth transition between regulators.</p><p> </p><p>Since the act gained royal assent, the government has carried out a wide range of consultations for the OfS. This resulted in the publication by OfS of ‘Securing student success: regulatory framework for higher education in England’. This regulatory framework, attached, is an important element of delivering the reforms promised by HERA. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/04/2018 answer text <p>The government announced on 18 April 2018 that the Student Loans Company (SLC) will provide support to ensure that none of the students affected by the error suffer hardship.</p><p> </p><p>Students affected by this will be eligible to apply for additional, non-repayable, support of up to £1,000 for the remainder of this academic year, and should contact the SLC. In addition, repayment of overpaid maintenance support will be deferred for all students affected until they have finished their courses and can afford to repay.
