star this property answer text <p>My Department is investing significant money into new roads in the South West. This includes £2 billion in the Road Investment Strategy for motorways and major ‘A’ roads in the South West, as well as £365m towards local major schemes. Further details are presented below:</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong><em>Road Investment Strategy</em></strong></p><p> </p><p>The Department for Transport announced schemes in the south west worth <strong>£2 billion</strong> in its Road Investment Strategy for motorways and major ‘A’ roads. This will include the delivery of the following schemes:</p><p> </p><p>- The A303 and A358 corridor;</p><p>- A30 Temple to Carblake;</p><p>- A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross.</p><p> </p><p><strong><em>Congestion Relief Investment</em></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>On 10 March 2017, the Government named <strong>27</strong> proposed small congestion relief schemes that can be delivered quickly. In respect of the A303/A30 between Southfields and Honiton, Highways England will assess the options for improvements, including dualling, as part of its South West Peninsula route strategy, for which evidence gathering is underway. star this property answer text <p>The Road Investment Strategy sets out an intention to upgrade all remaining single carriageway sections of the A303 between the M3 and the A358 to dual carriageway standard as part of a long-term commitment to creating a new Expressway to the South West. We are starting this process with three major improvements: A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down (Stonehenge), A303 Sparkford to Illchester and the A358 Taunton (M5) to Southfields. Construction of these schemes is expected to start in the first Road Period (by 1 April 2020), depending on planning, and completion is expected by the middle of the 2020s at the latest. We would expect subsequent Road Investment Strategies to fund the remaining improvements, such as to the Illminster by-pass.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p /><p> </p> more like this

Proposals emerging from this will be considered by Ministers leading up to the Autumn Statement, with completion of the route strategies programme by the end of March 2015.</p><p> </p>
