Recruitment is almost complete for the second cohort of the programme and more service leavers will start their training in September 2014. The Department for Transport is currently preparing its own forecasts of passenger demand for the next franchises to inform the specification.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Northern and TransPennine Express franchises consultation document included information from the Government's Rail Investment Strategy for the period up to March 2019. Rail North are representing all the local transport authorities in the North of England.
