	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/11/2021 answer text <p>The Home Office are pursuing a programme of transformation and business improvement initiatives to speed up decision making, reduce the time people spend in the system and reduce the numbers who are awaiting an interview or decision. This includes almost doubling decision makers number to c.1,000, providing improved training and career progression opportunities to aid retention of staff. This investment in our people will speed up processing times and increase the throughput of asylum decisions.</p><p>We are continuing to develop existing and new technology to help build on recent improvements such as digital interviewing and move away from a paper-based system. We are streamlining and digitalising the case working process to enable more effective workflow, appointment booking and decision-making. Additionally, we have introduced specialist Decision Making Units, providing greater ownership and management of cohorts of asylum cases.</p><p>Asylum decision makers receive extensive mandatory training and mentoring on considering asylum claims. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/03/2022 answer text <p>All those brought to the UK under the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme and Afghan Relocation Assistance Programme have the right to work, access to education and health care and are able to apply for public funds.</p><p> </p><p>For Afghan evacuees who have not yet moved into settled accommodation, we are working at pace across government and with over three hundred Local Authority partners to move Afghan evacuees into permanent homes as soon as possible so they can settle and rebuild their lives. Home Office Liaison Officers (HOLOs) in bridging hotels provide face-to-face support, and remote support when not physically present. They are reactive to the needs of those accommodated in hotels and can provide signposting to other government departments and Local Authorities and ensure safeguarding concerns are appropriately acted upon. We are also providing funding of £28 per person, per day to local authorities to deliver support services in the hotel, including ensuring access to education and health services<em>.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p>Once the Afghan families are settled in their longer-term accommodation they will receive a comprehensive package of integration support as they start their new lives in the UK. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/05/2022 answer text <p>Ahead of unrestricted international travel returning, HM Passport Office prepared extensively to serve an unprecedented number of customers, with 9.5 million British passport applications forecasted throughout 2022.</p><p>These preparations, which include the recruitment of 500 additional staff since April 2021 and with plans in place to recruit a further 700 by this summer, have ensured that passport applications can be processed in higher numbers than ever before. We are communicating directly with customers that applications for study, visits, work and family visas are taking longer to process at this time. These measures are intended to help businesses that may experience cashflow problems and include:</p><p> </p><p>Grant funding of up to £10,000 for small businesses in receipt of Small Business Rate Relief or Rural Rate Relief, administered through local authorities in England.</p><ul><li>Grant funding of up to £25,000 for retail, hospitality, and leisure businesses that own property with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000.</li><li>The Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme, which offers loans of up to £5 million for small and medium-sized enterprises through the British Business Bank.</li></ul><p> </p><p>We would also encourage businesses to consult their creditor in the first instance. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/02/2021 answer text <p>The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has reviewed evidence on the efficacy of the first dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech and Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.</p><p>The estimated efficacy from the first dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech is 89%, calculated 15 to 21 days after the first dose. There is no estimate for this beyond 21 days. Noting the novel nature of the vaccines and considering evidence on the AstraZeneca vaccine and other non-COVID-19 vaccines used in the United Kingdom, the JCVI is of the view that protective immunity from the first dose is likely to last for a duration of 12 weeks.</p><p>The JCVI advises initially prioritising delivery of the first vaccine dose as this is highly likely to have a greater public health impact in the short term and reduce the number of preventable deaths from COVID-19. The UK Chief Medical Officers had previously released a letter to the medical profession regarding the UK COVID-19 vaccination programmes, stating that they support a 12-week dosing interval to achieve good longer-term protection.
