	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/10/2022 answer text <p>Existing parental leave rights give employees who have taken parental leave the right to return to the same or similar job. For example, a woman has the right to return to the same job after ordinary maternity leave (the first 26 weeks of leave). The Government has committed, when Parliamentary time allows, to extend redundancy protections into a period of return to work for particular forms of parental leave. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/03/2019 answer text <p>We are working with the Department for Work and Pensions, as part of our forthcoming strategy on gender equality and economic empowerment, to understand what more can be done to support parents to take Shared Parental Leave.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is currently evaluating the Shared Parental Leave and Pay scheme - this will look at take-up rates, barriers to take-up and how the scheme is being used in practice. We expect to be in a position to report findings later this year.
