There are currently around 26,100 primary teachers in state schools with science-related degrees (11.5%). We promote primary teaching to science graduates through our “Get into Teaching” campaign as well as supporting 500 primary places to Teach First which recruits top graduates into teaching.</p><p>In addition to initial teacher training, we are supporting a number of initiatives to improve the science knowledge of existing primary teachers. There are 266 Specialist Leaders of Education in science who are boosting other teachers’ knowledge across the country. We are also collaborating with the Wellcome Trust who are developing a programme for primary science teachers to strengthen further their expertise. The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), which analyses crimes recorded by Action Fraud, cannot directly task Regional Organised Crime Units.</p><p>In light of which crimes are allocated to forces as per the rules set out in the Home Office Counting Rules. All fraud should be reported to Action Fraud, the national reporting centre for fraud and online crime which is operated by City of London Police.</p><p>Whaling fraud is also known as CEO fraud. Fraudsters pose as the CEO of a company and send emails to an individual in the finance department requesting an urgent transfer of money to a specific bank account. That bank account is operated by the fraudsters and once the money is received it is moved elsewhere and the account closed.</p><p>Action Fraud reports that fraudsters use a strong element of social engineering to commit CEO fraud ensuring that the request to transfer funds appears urgent and legitimate.
