answer text <p>The Working Group on Product Recalls and Safety submitted its final report in April 2017. I had intended to publish the report then, but the announcement of the General Election prevented me from doing so.</p><p>Following the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy, I asked the Working Group to urgently review their findings and their report has been published today.</p><p>I have also asked the Working Group to look at further potential areas of product safety and recalls where action might be required, in light of the tragic events at Grenfell Tower.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Fair Funding Review is conducting a thorough review of what the relative needs assessment formula for local councils should be in a world in which local government spending is funded by local resources not central grant and will set the baselines for 100% Business Rates Retention system. One of the key areas of work for the review is to look at the available evidence about what factors drive the costs local councils face. answer text <p>The Government has noted the paper presented by National Energy Action on February 13<sup>th</sup> and will assess what the implications are for current policies. Government will consider this and other evidence provided by stakeholders as part of the design of any future fuel poverty schemes. In particular it will consider the views of the Committee on Fuel Poverty.</p><p> </p><p>Government recently confirmed plans to reform the Energy Company Obligation, which is worth £640m per year. In 2017-18, 70% of the scheme will be directed at low income households. This represents an increase from £310m to £450m of funding per year. Energy companies are also required to provide over 2 million low income and vulnerable households with a £140 rebate off their energy bill each winter, under the Warm Home Discount Scheme, which is worth £320m per year.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government is taking a range of steps to promote nurisng degrees and secure the healthcare workforce; by:</p><p> </p><p>- enabling universities to offer up to 10,000 extra training places on pre-registration healthcare programmes;</p><p>- offering students around 25% more upfront financial support while studying - for example, a single student on a three-year programme would receive approximately £2,000 more each year on a student loan compared to an National Health Service bursary;</p><p>- improving access to pre-registration undergraduate study for those from disadvantaged backgrounds; and</p><p>- giving students with an existing qualification the chance to get funding for a second degree.</p><p> </p><p>In November 2016, the government announced the New Nursing Degree apprenticeship, once established this will create up to 1,000 apprentice degree nurses in the NHS each year.</p><p> </p><p>It is expected to open up more opportunities to train as a nurse for those already working in the NHS or those for whom full-time university study is not a realistic option.</p>

answer text <p>A £3.6 billion transitional relief scheme will provide support for the minority of properties which face an increase in rates as a result of the 2017 revaluation.</p><p>My Department is working closely with the Treasury to determine how best to provide further support to businesses facing the steepest increases. We expect to be in a position to make an announcement on this at the Budget, in just two weeks.</p><p>At Budget 2016, the Government announced a £6.7 billion package of business rate cuts. This included the doubling of small business rate relief and an increase in the thresholds for relief. As a result, 600,000 small businesses, including eligible licensed premises, will pay no rates at all.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government recently confirmed plans for the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) policy for 2017-18. In 2017-18, 70% of the support under the scheme will be directed at low income households. This represents an increase from £310m to £450m of funding per year, under the Affordable Warmth Obligation.</p><p>The policy also includes elements designed to incentivise delivery to non-gas homes, such as an uplift of 35% to 45% (depending on the measure) for delivery to such homes under the Affordable Warmth element of ECO, and limiting the deployment of gas replacement boilers to enable a more diverse mix of measures to be delivered.</p><p>As a result, the Impact Assessment for the policy estimates that 16% of the delivery under Affordable Warmth will be to homes not heated by mains gas. This represents a significant increase on delivery to this group to date, which is below 2%.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Our proposals for funding reform will mean that schools and local authority areas will, for the first time, receive a consistent and fair share of the schools budget, so that they can give every child the opportunity to reach their full potential.</p><p> </p><p>For Sheffield local authority, the proposals would mean an increase in schools funding of 4.6%. On funding for pupils with high needs, Sheffield local authority would see an increase of 13.0%.</p><p> </p><p>The current consultation is open until 22 March, and we are keen to hear views from as many schools, governors, local authorities and parents as possible.
