star this property answer text <p>Officials from our Embassy in Tel Aviv have discussed the situation in Syria with the Israeli authorities on several occasions. Our Ambassador to Israel raised the issue with the Israeli Defence Minister on 27 August and more recently with officials from the Israeli National Security Council on 9 September. The Prime Minister, my right hon. Friend the Member for Witney (David Cameron), and the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Friend the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Philip Hammond) discussed security in the region with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on 10 September.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>During my visit to China during the final week of August I had discussions with Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao on our joint efforts to counter the Illegal Wildlife Trade, including the trafficking of ivory products. I also met our key NGO partners in country and reassured them of the UK’s continued leadership on this issue through funding quality projects and working closely with the Chinese government through the UK-China Global Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The British Government and the Government of Gibraltar are working to maintain and strengthen our economic links. Ministers discussed progress on this at the Joint Ministerial Council (Gibraltar Europe Negotiations) in September. The Treasury agreed to continue to work closely together with The Government of Gibraltar on financial services, committing to a programme of work on insurance. We have also established a working group to discuss mutual opportunities in the online gaming industry, where Gibraltar is a global leader.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>​We recognise the extraordinary contribution Parliamentarians can make to the Commonwealth's rejuvenation, both by sharing their wealth of expertise and knowledge and by contributing to activities that celebrate the Commonwealth across the UK in the run up to and during the week of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.</p><p>Lord Ahmad, Minister for the Commonwealth, is in regular contact with parliamentarians from both Houses, engaging with the All Party Parliamentary Group, through Commonwealth Organisations such as the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK and by meeting many Parliamentarians individually to set out our plans. Lord Ahmad plans to write to Parliamentarians in both Houses shortly to outline further details regarding the summit.</p> more like this
