star this property answer text <p>We are working with NHS England, Health Education England and the profession to increase the general practice workforce in England, including in Plymouth Sutton and Devonport. This includes measures to improve recruitment, address the reasons why doctors leave the profession and encourage them to return to practice.</p><p>The updated GP Contract Framework announced a number of new schemes, alongside continued support for existing recruitment and retention schemes for the general practice workforce. This includes the GP Retention Scheme, the GP Retention Fund, the National GP Induction and Refresher, the Locum Support Scheme, the New to Partnership Payment and the Supporting Mentors Scheme.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Trusts choose electronic patient records systems based on an evaluation of the system that best meets their local needs through a competitive evaluation process, in line with public procurement regulations. The evaluation considers wider contextual factors such as the systems in place elsewhere in the integrated care board or nearby geography. The recently concluded procurement in Cornwall included an evaluation of the impact on near neighbours, including Devon, Plymouth, and Torbay, as one factors among many involved in determining the best fit for circumstances locally. Plymouth and Torbay are about to procure a system and like Cornwall, will follow a regulations compliant procurement taking account of systems nearby in arriving at their choice.</p> more like this

Of these, 62.5% of these were conducted face-to-face.</p><p>On 22 September 2022, we announced ‘Our plan for patients’, which contains measures to assist people make an informed choice on their general practitioner (GP) practice, book an appointment more easily, benefit from more care options and increase the diversity of general practice teams. This aims to increase the availability of appointment types, such as face-to-face, in England, including in Plymouth Sutton and Devonport.</p><p>NHS England’s guidance states that GP practices must provide face to face appointments and remote consultations and should respect preferences for face-to-face care unless there are good clinical reasons to the contrary.  While remote consultations can provide additional choice, flexibility and convenience for patients, this is not suitable for all patients or in all circumstances.</p>
