star this property answer text <p>While the Department has not undertaken a detailed assessment of the effectiveness of the National Dementia Strategy, it has commissioned an independent assessment of the improvements in dementia care and support since 2009, which incorporates the progress made under both the National Dementia Strategy (2009-14) and the current Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia. The National Dementia Strategy was superseded by the Prime Minister's Challenge on Dementia launched in 2012, which builds on and takes forward at pace the work commenced as part of the National Dementia Strategy. The Prime Minister's Challenge concludes at the end of March 2015.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The National Dementia Strategy has been the subject of more detailed work by the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Dementia and other organisations this year, which is being used to inform the Department’s work on the future of dementia care and support. The APPG published a report in May 2014, ‘Building on the National Dementia Strategy: Change, progress and priorities’.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
