star this property answer text <p>The UK Government is working actively with the maritime sector to support decarbonisation at both international and domestic level. My office works closely with the Department for Transport which leads on this work, and which is focussing on supporting the decarbonisation of the industry throughout the whole of the UK. Officials from my office and DfT are meeting regularly with their counterparts in HMT.</p><p> </p><p>Domestically, the UK Government has published research exploring the opportunities and challenges arising from decarbonisation and this will provide the sector with greater clarity on what is required to achieve decarbonisation. In support of this, the Department for Transport has provided £1.5m of grants through Maritime Research and Innovation UK, supporting clean maritime innovation throughout the UK.</p><p> </p><p>Internationally, we are working with other high ambition states and the sector to develop and adopt pragmatic, effective, short and medium term measures that will peak and reduce emissions from the sector.</p><p><em> </em></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>NHS England and NHS Improvement, through their Children’s and Young People’s Cancer Clinical Reference Group, is establishing Operational Delivery Networks (ODNs) to enable clinicians to lead and improve cancer pathways for children and young people with cancer, ensuring timely referral and diagnosis.</p><p>The recent publication of the 2020 Patient Survey report by the Bone Cancer Research Trust will assist ODNs with this task and the commencement of a clinical trial is supported by NHS England and NHS Improvement, as recommended, to establish the reasons behind and the consequences of delayed diagnosis.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) updated referral guidelines for suspected cancer in June 2015. This was estimated to save up to 5,000 lives a year, with general practitioners urged to think of cancer sooner and lower the referral threshold for tests.</p><p>Health professionals and the organisations that employ them are expected to take NICE guidance into account when deciding what treatments to give people.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Improving early diagnosis of cancer is a top priority for the National Health Service, especially to help boost one-year and five-year survival rates in the future. That is why of one of the core ambitions in the NHS Long Term Plan is to diagnose 75% of cancers at stage 1 or 2 by 2028, which would be up from the current rate of around 50%. The early diagnosis ambition includes rare and less common cancers, such as sarcoma cancer, but individual ambitions have not been set for different tumour types. However, success cannot realistically be achieved without making progress on cancers such as sarcoma.</p><p>During the COVID-19 pandemic, priority has been given to those Long Term Plan commitments that also support recovery, such as establishing Rapid Diagnostic Centres (RDCs). As of October 2020, 45 RDCs were live across England.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Healthcare providers have been asked to ensure that there is sufficient diagnostic capacity in COVID-19 secure environments through the use of independent sector facilities and the development of Community Diagnostic Hubs and Rapid Diagnostic Centres. Endoscopy capacity is being restored to normal levels, and the capacity of surgical hubs is being expanded to meet demand.</p><p>The National Health Service has continued to provide urgent and emergency services, including the diagnosis of cancers, throughout the outbreak and has run the ‘Open for Business’ media campaign to encourage people with potentially serious health issues, such as cancer, to continue to seek medical advice and attend essential appointments.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>NS&amp;I must balance the interests of savers, taxpayers and the broader financial services sector.</p><p> </p><p>After 6 months of offering often market-leading rates, NS&amp;I has announced interest rate reductions that will realign it with the rest of the retail savings market.</p><p> </p><p>NS&amp;I’s Net Financing target for 2020-21 was revised from £6 billion to £35 billion to reflect the Government’s funding requirements during the Covid-19 pandemic. NS&amp;I raised £14.5 billion in Net Financing from April to June. Demand for NS&amp;I products has remained at similarly high levels since then, making rate reductions necessary.</p><p> </p><p>With gilt yields currently at very low levels, government financing raised through NS&amp;I is much more expensive that that raised through gilt issuance. It is important that HM Treasury takes into account taxpayer value considerations when making financing decisions.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>I refer to my previous answer of 19 November 2021 that the Department has discussions regularly with broadcasters on a range of matters including those related to the broadcasting of Sport.</p><p>The Listed Events regime is designed to ensure that sporting events of national significance are accessible to as wide an audience as possible by ensuring that coverage of certain sports are offered to free-to-air broadcasters. Currently, matches in the Rugby World Cup finals tournament and Six Nations Rugby matches involving home countries are designated on the listed events regime under Group B. This means that they are protected for delayed coverage and/or highlights packages on free-to-air television but it does not preclude these events from being broadcast live on free-to-air television.</p> more like this
