	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/11/2015 answer text <br /><p>In the UK, we have been successfully regulating for gas and oil drilling for over 50 years and have tough regulations in place to prevent water contamination.</p><br /><p>All hydraulic fracturing operations will require a groundwater activity permit. The Environment Agency will not grant a permit where the risks to groundwater are unacceptable. They have powers to impose conditions to ensure proper protection or to prohibit activities which they consider to pose unacceptable risks.</p><br /><p>The Infrastructure Act 2015 required the Government to specify protected groundwater source areas within which hydraulic fracturing cannot take place, which we did in draft regulations debated in the House on 27 October. They define these areas as being equivalent to Source Protection Zones 1, which applies to those areas close to drinking water sources where there is the greatest risk associated with groundwater contamination. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/11/2015 answer text <p>Source Protection Zones identify the area of an aquifer that provides the water abstracted at the drinking water supply borehole. Source Protection Zones 1 (SPZ1) are the area within which pollution would take less than 50 days to reach an abstraction point and where the consequences of groundwater pollution would therefore be greatest. They are used by the Environment Agency as a tool for regulation. The Environment Agency will not permit drilling for oil or gas in an SPZ1. The total cost of running the press office including pay, pensions and all other costswas £642,000 in the financial year April 2014 to Mar 2015.</p><br /><p>b) Oil and Gas Authority</p><p>The Oil and Gas Authority has a small communications and external affairs team, currently consisting of four staff. There is no dedicated press officer.</p><br /><p>For 2015/16 costs for this team (including IT, staff costs &amp; necessary subscriptions) are projected to be c£203,000.</p><br /><p>c) Civil Nuclear Police Authority</p><br /><p>The Civil Nuclear Constabularly/Civil Nuclear Police Authority employs a total of two members of staff: a Head of Engagement and Communications and one Communications Manager. It has no press or public relations officers. The only costs of running this small communications team are salary costs.</p><br /><p>d) Coal Authority</p><br /><p>There are two members of staff (one of which is part-time) working on press and public relations in the Coal Authority. The only costs of running this team is salary cost plus £7,300 establishment costs for the year.</p><br /><p>e) Committee on Climate Change</p><br /><p>There are two members of staff in the Committee on Climate Change Communications Team. The running costs of the team are salary costs plus other running costs (e.g. IT, website) of £18,934.</p><br /><p>f) Nuclear Decommissioning Authority</p><br /><p>The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority does not have a press office. Two members of staff have responsibility for media relations as a substantive part of their role: the Head of Stakeholder Communications and Corporate Communications Manager.</p><br /><p>Given the small size of these teams, providing the information requested on salaries would enable individual members of staff to be identified. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/06/2015 answer text <p>We are committed to doing our part to tackle climate change, in line with the Climate Change Act. Under the Act we are already required to reduce UK emissions by 80% by 2050 compared to 1990 levels, and to meet our carbon budgets, which set emissions reduction targets up to 2027. The Climate Change Act also commits us to set an economy-wide carbon budget for the period 2028-32 by 30<sup>th</sup> June 2016.
