star this property answer text <p>The Children and Social Work Act (2017) places a duty on the Secretary of State to make relationships education mandatory in all primary schools, and relationships and sex education mandatory in all secondary schools, in England.</p><p> </p><p>The Government also made a commitment to ensuring that the updated guidance and regulations for these subjects would be age appropriate and support the knowledge children and young people need to stay safe and to develop positive relationships.</p><p> </p><p>The Department intends to conduct a thorough and wide ranging engagement process on relationships education and relationships and sex education. This will determine the content of the regulations and statutory guidance, covering subject content, school practice and quality of delivery. We will ensure the subjects are carefully designed to safeguard and support pupils whilst being deliverable for schools.</p><p>Relationships education and relationships and sex education will be age appropriate, building knowledge over time in a way that prepares pupils for issues they will soon face.</p><p> </p><p>We will set out shortly more details about the engagement process and the work to consider age appropriate subject content. This will result in draft regulations and guidance on which we will consult. Following consultation, regulations will be laid in the House allowing for a full and considered debate.</p>

star this property answer text <p>The independent inquiry into the Grenfell Tower fire will be set up under the Inquiries Act 2005 and will be publicly funded. This will include funding for legal representation for the victims and families of those affected the devastating fire. It will have the power to compel witnesses. As I said in my oral statement on 22 June, all those with an interest—including survivors and victims’ families—will be consulted about the terms of reference (22 June 2017, Official Report, column 168),</p><p>An announcement on the Inquiry will be made shortly.</p> more like this

The time required to provide data going back to 1997/98 would incur disproportionate cost.</p><p> </p><p>We do not hold information on the overall proportion of the prison population that made a complaint or the proportion of the estimated transgender prisoner population for the time periods requested. There may be other similar cases where the PPO investigated a death but were not aware of the person having previously identified as transgender and therefore their death would not be included in these figures.</p><p> </p><p>The Government believes that prisons should be places of safety and reform. We welcome the work that the PPO has done to prevent self-inflicted deaths in custody, promote equality and inclusion, and improve safety in prisons more generally.</p>
