star this property answer text <p>Visa nationals whose leave expired after the 24 January and who cannot leave the country because of travel restrictions or self-isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be able to extend their visa.</p><p>A dedicated COVID-19 immigration team has been set up within UKVI to make the process as straightforward as possible. Anyone in this situation just needs to contact this team, via the following email address, <a href="mailto:CIH@homeoffice.gov.uk" target="_blank">CIH@homeoffice.gov.uk</a>, to let them know their visa has expired and they will be issued with an extension.</p><p>This will last until 31 May, but will be kept under regular review in case further extensions are needed.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The latest published information on EU Settlement Scheme applications received can be found on the Home Office’s ‘EU Settlement Scheme statistics’ web page available at:</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/eu-settlement-scheme-statistics" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/eu-settlement-scheme-statistics</a></p><p>The total number of applications received up to 31 January 2021 was 5.06 million (5,060,600).</p><p>The published figures refer specifically to applications made to the EU Settlement Scheme and cannot be directly compared with estimates of the resident population of EU/EEA nationals in the UK.</p><p>The published figures include non-EEA family members, Irish nationals, and eligible EEA citizens not resident in the UK, none of whom are usually included in estimates of the resident EU population.</p><p>Furthermore, the population estimates do not take account of people’s migration intentions and will include people who have come to the UK for a range of purposes, including some who have no intention to settle permanently in the UK</p>

star this property answer text <p>EU, EEA and Swiss nationals are non-visa nationals. This means that they can visit the UK as a Standard visitor without needing to apply for a visa in advance of travel and can seek entry at the UK border. Standard Visitors are able to stay in the UK for up to six months.</p><p>There is no specified maximum period which an individual can spend in the UK in any period such as ‘6 months in 12 months’ (as long as each visit does not exceed the maximum period for the visit, which is normally 6 months). However, each case is assessed on its individual merits and visitors may be refused entry if it is clear from their travel history they are seeking to remain in the UK for extended periods or making the UK their home via repeated visits.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The EU has legislated to allow British Citizens visa-free travel in the Schengen area for short-stays, such as for tourism, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This is the standard length of stay the EU offers to nationals of eligible third countries, in line with existing EU legislation.</p><p>The EU’s Schengen Borders Code governs the rules for entry and exit in the Schengen area.</p><p>The arrangements outlined in the Answer of 8 July 20201 to Question 25865 apply to those arriving in the UK under the Visitor Route regardless of their nationality. The only difference between visa and non-visa nationals being where the assessment against the rules takes place.</p><p>The generosity of these arrangements reflects the UK Government’s desire to welcome visitors who are key to Scotland’s hospitality and cultural sector, students taking short courses and those wishing to make visits of up to 6 months in length to see relatives here in the UK.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Home Office has already taken steps to prioritise any outstanding Family Reunion applications made by Afghan refugees in the UK.</p><p>The Home Office will not routinely expedite Afghan cases, as to do so would discriminate against other nationalities who may face similar risks, but we will consider cases on an individual basis to assess, in line with the existing approach on applications for Family Reunion, whether the risks presented mean the case should be expedited.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In March 2020, to protect claimants and Home Office staff, we made changes to the further submissions process to allow for representations to be made remotely. It was always the intention of the Home Office to re-start the process of requiring further submissions from failed asylum seekers to be made in person as this helps to ensure people maintain contact with the Home Office and enables identity to be checked. In order to make this process more accessible, we have recently increased the number of locations people can lodge submissions, with Glasgow coming on line in mid-August 2021, in addition to the previous locations of Liverpool and Belfast.</p> more like this
