star this property answer text <p>In June, my Rt. Hon. Friend the then Secretary of State for Transport wrote to local authorities, including Kirklees Council, encouraging engagement with the upcoming Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund, and the existing On-street Residential Chargepoint Scheme. The On-street Residential Chargepoint Scheme is currently open for applications.</p><p> </p><p>Officials from the Department for Transport subsequently met with Kirklees Council to discuss LEVI, which will provide councils in England with resource and capital funding to plan and deliver local charging infrastructure.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Bus Services Act 2017 provides the tools that local authorities need to improve local bus services. It allows Mayoral Combined Authorities to franchise bus services and local authorities to develop partnerships with bus operators to take the actions which they’ve identified locally to incentivise uptake of public transport. Bus Open Data powers in the Act will require bus operators in England to open up information about routes, timetables, fares and tickets in real time for passengers by 2020. These improvements aim to improve journey planning and help passengers secure best value tickets. The Government is also investing record levels in the U.K. rail network, as part of the biggest rail modernisation programme for over a century</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>This Government is determined to ensure that disabled people have the same access to transport as everyone else, and that they are able to travel easily and with confidence.</p><p> </p><p>Stations must display relevant information on information displays. In addition, through their Franchise Agreements train companies are required to make timetable information available and free of charge in booklets or similar format at staffed stations.</p><p> </p><p>Disabled People’s Protection Policies, required as a condition of a train operator’s licence, require train companies to demonstrate that the varied needs of different disabled passengers are taken into account when considering how information is communicated. All information about train services on display at stations must be made available through appropriate telephone help lines and staffed information points.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department for Education have published apprenticeship starts by subject area over the required time period.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Transport began reporting in 2016 through the Strategic Transport Apprenticeship Taskforce (STAT). The STAT “One year on” report sets out apprentice starts in: DfT; Roads and Rail client bodies; and the supply chain, generated through procurement contracting. In 2016-17, 2,000 apprenticeships were delivered in roads and rail. A report covering 2017 to 2018 is due to be published this summer. The Transport Infrastructure Skills strategy published in 2016 committed to creating 30,000 apprenticeships by 2020.</p> more like this
