unstar this property answer text <p>Claimants who had their UC award reduced to zero by the Minimum income floor and did not receive a UC payment during the qualifying period, will not be eligible for a cost-of-living payment.</p><p> </p><p>For those that are not eligible for this support, or for families that still need additional support; the Government is providing an additional £500 million to help households, on top of what has been provided since October 2021, bringing total funding for this support to £1.5 billion. In England, this will take the form of an extension to the Household Support Fund backed by £421m and is administered by Local Authorities. Devolved administrations will receive £79 million through the Barnett formula.</p> more like this

We also support the UK university sector to mitigate the risks. With our support, Universities UK has worked to increase understanding of the threat, issued guidelines for institutions in October 2020, and co-signed a statement on 'safe, secure and stable internationalisation' with counterparts, including Australia. The Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Bill will also empower English providers to address concerns about freedom of speech related threats and possible influence of overseas money, without reducing the ability of our world class universities to collaborate globally.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Pacific Island Countries (PICs), as Small Island Developing States (SIDs), are amongst the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. At COP27 the UK reaffirmed commitment to the Glasgow Climate Pact, and will continue to work closely with Pacific Island Countries to reform the international architecture to improve SIDs access to finance. In November 2021, we announced the 'Small Island Developing States Adaptation and Resilience' Programme, which will help SIDs draw down climate and wider concessional finding.</p><p>In November, the Minister for Indo-Pacific attended the 12th Pacific Community Ministerial conference, and expressed support for the Pacific Island Forum's recently launched 2050 Strategy for a Blue Pacific Continent.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The UK has been clear that we oppose the provision of jet fuel, arms, military equipment, and dual use items to Myanmar and that UK businesses should not facilitate such activity. We also expect British insurers to conduct due diligence to ensure they are not facilitating the provision of goods that enable serious human rights violations. On 28 February, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office worked with the Department for International Trade to update the UK's Overseas Business Risk Guidance to make it clear that UK businesses should conduct thorough supply chain due diligence to ensure that commodities, such as aviation fuel, do not reach the Myanmar military.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The publication of the Integrated Review in March 2021 affirmed the UK's increased focus and long-term commitment to the Indo-Pacific. The UK has since increased its diplomatic presence in the region. This includes the opening of a Pacific and Development Unit at our High Commission in Canberra, which will co-ordinate our efforts to help meet Pacific needs and support the resilience and operations of our six High Commissions in the region.</p><p>Recruitment is currently underway for new roles for this unit, and the first UK-based officer will arrive in early 2023.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The UK regularly raises the situation in Myanmar with ASEAN counterparts, including at Ministerial and Secretary of State level.</p><p>The UK is very concerned by the military's use of indiscriminate airstrikes against civilians. The UK has been clear that we oppose the provision of jet fuel, arms and military equipment to Myanmar. On 8 February 2022 we strengthened our public Overseas Business Risk (OBR) guidance to provide specific guidance to businesses on exporting aviation related goods, including jet fuel, to Myanmar. This includes calling on all businesses to conduct thorough supply chain due diligence.</p> more like this
