star this property answer text <p>As set out on 6 December 2023, in the Government's response to Bishop James Jones' independent report, many organisations have already signed the Hillsborough Charter, including the National Police Chiefs’ Council, College of Policing, Crown Prosecution Service, Fire Service, and Kensington and Chelsea Council.</p><p>This Government will encourage and work with other public bodies to adopt the Charter and commit to learn the lessons of the Hillsborough disaster, to ensure that the failings we saw in its aftermath are never repeated.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In the UK Australia Free Trade Agreement both parties agreed to <em>“…maintain a legal framework governing electronic transactions consistent with the principles of the UNCITRAL Model Law on Electronic Commerce…”</em> and to <em>“...recognise the importance of developing mechanisms to facilitate the use of electronic transferable records.” </em></p><p>In the Queen’s Speech, the Government committed to implementing the recommendations made by the Law Commission for England and Wales by legislating to put electronic documents on the same legal footing as paper documents, thereby delivering the principles of the UN Commission On International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Model Law.</p><p>Reform in this area is a G7 commitment made under DCMS Secretary of State’s Digital Track of the UK G7 Presidency and confirmed by the Carbis Bay G7 Leaders’ Summit Communique.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Ministry of Justice does not actively promote the use of Credit Unions to staff.</p><p> </p><p>However, any promotion of credit union schemes is generally publicised by the Trade Unions for staff to access.</p><p> </p><p>Although the Ministry does not currently provide such a facility, it does offer financial wellbeing support and advice, as part of its wider employee benefits offer to staff and will continue to explore options to support staff and raise awareness of financial wellbeing.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Section 176 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 inserted Section 22A into the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1980. Under this provision, shoplifting of goods worth £200 or less is treated as a summary only offence, unless the defendant elects to be tried in the Crown Court. These cases can now be handled as police-led prosecutions.</p><p>Police-led prosecutions were introduced to provide a simpler and more proportionate response to high-volume, low-level offences where the case is uncontested, increasing police discretion to tackle crime in their area, freeing up CPS resource to focus on more complex cases, and generating efficiencies in the criminal justice system. The Ministry of Justice does not maintain statistics on police-led prosecutions.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Attacks against our brave emergency workers who protect us are appalling and cowardly. star this property answer text <p>London Probate Registry is currently delivering performance in line with expected targets.</p><p> </p><p>During 2019 performance fell below expected standards and as a result there was a rise in complaints over the delays that users experienced. The delays were caused due to a significant spike in work during in the first quarter of 2019 as well as some IT issues as a result of moving to a new system. These problems have been rectified and the system is now performing well.</p><p> </p> more like this
