star this property answer text <p>We spend around £30bn annually on housing support for low-income renters in the private and social rented sectors.</p><p> </p><p>From April we are investing £1.2bn increasing the Local Housing Allowance rates to the 30th percentile of market rents, ensuring 1.6m private renters gain on average almost £800 in 2024/25 in additional support towards rental costs. This significant investment will cost £7bn over five years.</p><p> </p><p>Discretionary Housing Payments are available for those who need additional support. Since 2011 the Government has provided nearly £1.7bn for DHPs to local authorities.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Residential Property Developer Tax will apply to companies that make trading profits from residential property development activities and are part of a group that is generating relevant profits in excess of £25 million.</p><p> </p><p>This means the tax will not apply to companies that construct properties to hold as investments.</p><p> </p><p>It will, however, apply to companies that make trading profits from selling residential property, including where the purchaser is a member of the same group or is acquiring the property for investment purposes.</p><p> </p><p>As with all other taxes, the Government will keep this under review.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Insurers are required to abide by the Equality Act (2010) and are not allowed to use ethnicity as a risk factor when determining the price of insurance.</p><p> </p><p>The recent Citizens Advice report highlights an important point that there is the risk of discrimination in pricing in the insurance market and this matter should be looked into further.</p><p> </p><p>Insurers must treat customers fairly and firms are required to do so under the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) rules. The FCA is an independent non-governmental body responsible for regulating and supervising the financial services industry, including insurers.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is keen to ensure that all consumers have access to a range of financial products that suits their needs and is keeping this situation under review.</p> more like this
