star this property answer text <p>Covid-19 is particularly challenging for those in vulnerable groups, including pregnant women.</p><p>Pregnant women can be furloughed if the employer and employee agree to this. Where this happens, the Government has amended the law to ensure they do not lose out on maternity and parental pay.</p><p>Employers should review their risk assessments for pregnant women, considering also the risk of severe illness for the shielding group. In some circumstances, medically suspending the woman may be appropriate.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government does not routinely monitor compliance with equality legislation of any particular body or organisation, including the Church of England.</p><p>It would be a matter for an individual who felt that they had been discriminated against by the Church, or any other religious organisation, to seek a resolution including, ultimately, bringing a case to the courts.</p><p>In order to help assist in informal resolution of any situation, members of the public who feel that they have suffered discrimination because of religion or belief, or any other protected characteristic, can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service. That is a free service covering England, Scotland and Wales which offers advice on dispute resolution, prior to consideration of instigating formal proceedings.</p> more like this

Friend the Minister for Women and Equalities became responsible for the Gender Recognition Act 2004 on 16 November 2017, following a ‘Machinery of Government’ change.</p><p>The government has committed to carrying out a broad consultation on the Gender Recognition Act to look at making the process of legally changing gender less bureaucratic and intrusive for transgender people.</p><p>We will encourage employers to respond to the consultation.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We will soon launch a broad consultation on amending this Act. The consultation will focus on making the process of legally changing gender less bureaucratic and intrusive for transgender people. We will engage with businesses and employers during the consultation to gain their views.</p><p> </p><p>As the Minister for Women and Equalities only acquired responsibility for the Gender Recognition Act on 16 November 2017 from the Ministry of Justice, no prior consideration had been made by the Department for Education.</p><p> </p><p>The Government Equalities Office, however, issued guidance on supporting transgender employers in the workplace in November 2015. This included a section on the Gender Recognition Act 2004. The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service also recently updated its advice to employers on managing transgender staff.</p> more like this
