<p>The Government has rescheduled cannabis-based products for medicinal use from Schedule 1 to Schedule 2 of the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001. Doctors on the specialist register of the General Medical Council may now prescribe these products where there might be potential benefit to individual patients. General practitioners will not be able to prescribe but the Government has commissioned the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence to produce guidance for all clinicians by October 2019.</p>
