	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/12/2017 answer text <p>Since 2010, there are 600,000 fewer people in absolute poverty – a record low.</p><p>This Government is committed to action that delivers a lasting change to the lives of some of the most disadvantaged people in society. This requires an approach that goes beyond the safety net of the welfare system to tackle the root causes of poverty and disadvantage.</p><p>The evidence is clear that work is the best route out of poverty. Children in workless households are 5 times more likely to be in poverty than those in households where all adults work. And children in workless families are also more disadvantaged, and achieve poorer educational and employment outcomes than other children.</p><p>That is why we will continue with polices that support and encourage employment - reforming the welfare system to make work pay. It is the role of the UK courts to thoroughly examine whether the conditions which would allow an extradition to take place are met.</p><p>These conditions include a comprehensive and rigorous assessment of whether extradition is compatible with the human rights of requested individuals. If there is a risk that the extradition could lead to a breach of those rights, the Extradition Act 2003 (‘the Act’) creates a statutory bar to extradition. Human rights are an extensive suite of protections contained in the Act, which fall to be considered by the courts in every case and includes the risk of torture. Such technologies have the potential to reduce the reliance on the use of animals, improve the efficiency of drug research and development and to deliver safer, cheaper, and more effective medicines to patients. We continue to actively support and fund the development and dissemination of techniques that replace, reduce, and refine the use of animals in research (the 3Rs).</p><p>At this current point in time, the availability of non-animal technologies does not allow us to transition away from the use of animals in science and testing. The use of animals in science supports the development of new medicines, safety testing and cutting-edge medical technologies, for humans and animals, as well as the safety and sustainability of our environment.</p><p>Where animals have to be used they are protected under law. Increasingly, our customers access many of our services on-line. This includes claiming benefits, looking for jobs and keeping us informed of their efforts to find work. We tailor our service so that face-to-face contact can be focused on those who need extra support from us.</p><p> </p><p>The reimbursement of travel costs is available to claimants when they are required to attend the Jobcentre for appointments other than mandatory fortnightly signing appointments. The department will advise customers on alternative Jobcentre locations, taking into account travel and access to the local labour market. However, commercial sensitivities have limited our ability for detailed discussions with Scottish Government on specific site proposals.
