unstar this property answer text <p>The Department does not hold any information on the number of pilots who have sought medical assistance following a laser pen attack. The Civil Aviation Authority has published a Safety Notice which provides guidance on laser attacks, including the action that aircraft crew and controllers should take during and immediately after an attack. It also includes a self-assessment tool to help those exposed to lasers make an immediate assessment of their vision and determine whether or not they need to consult an eye specialist.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The department’s THINK! road safety campaign recently launched its 50 years of drink drive campaigning on the 7<sup>th</sup> November. The campaign has used the 50 year milestone to mark the progress made in reducing drink drive deaths on our road while underlining that – with 230 lives lost in 2012 – there is still a long way to go. The department will consider whether further steps might be necessary to raise awareness of the guidance.</p><p> </p><p>Ofsted’s Common Inspection Framework requires inspectors, in making judgements upon schools, to pay particular attention to the outcomes of a range of groups of pupils, including those with medical needs. Ofsted included guidance to inspectors on this matter in their March 2017 school inspection update, reminding inspectors that they should consider how schools are meeting the needs of pupils with medical conditions.</p><p> </p><p>Ofsted’s onward plans are a matter for Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector, Amanda Spielman. I have asked her to write to you, and a copy of her reply will be placed in the libraries of the House.</p> more like this
