<p>We have been clear throughout COVID-19 that those found to be abusing the system
can be subjected to the full extent of our enforcement powers and the Child Maintenance
Service will continue to pursue all cases, where appropriate.</p><p> </p><p>Due to
the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent closure of all courts, legal enforcement action
was put on hold for 2,198 cases. The information required to assess the current status
of these particular cases is not collated centrally and could only be provided at
disproportionate cost.</p><p> </p><p>It may be helpful to note, however, that at the
beginning of October; 390 enforcement cases had been progressed and now have a confirmed
court date, and 1790 cases were awaiting further court action, consisting of both
newly referred cases and the original cases put on hold.</p>
