Our aim is to ensure that patients in the UK and across the EU continue to be able to access the best and most innovative medicines and be assured that their safety is protected through the strongest regulatory framework and the sharing of data.</p><p /> <p> </p><p>The UK has one of the strongest and most productive medical services sectors in the world. unstar this property answer text <p>The Government is investing £16 billion over the Spending Review period for local authorities (LAs) to spend on public health. LAs are responsible for making decisions on how to spend their local allocation but the public health grant conditions make it clear that they must have regard for the need to improve the take up of, and outcomes from, their drug and alcohol misuse treatment services. Public Health England guidance, developed with drug service providers, promotes the need for local authorities, commissioners and healthcare providers to work together to create systems and pathways that enable people who use drugs, including those who experience homelessness, to access services.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme offers a range of National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended therapies in England for common mental health conditions including depression and anxiety.</p><p> </p><p>For people with a severe mental illness, such as psychosis, bipolar disorder and personality disorder, NHS England has committed to increasing access to psychological therapies, as recommended by the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health.</p><p> </p><p>The 2016 access standard for early intervention state that at least 50% of people experiencing their first episode of psychosis should start a package of care recommended by NICE within two weeks of referral rising to 60% by 2020/21. The waiting time element of this standard was met in August 2018 with 74.4% of people starting treatment within two weeks.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, NHS England is developing a new framework for adult non-specialist community mental health services, due to be published in 2019, which will set out updated recommendations on the importance of psychological therapies as a treatment intervention in community mental health services.</p>

unstar this property answer text <p>In January 2016, the Department published a joint declaration on Dementia Post-Diagnostic Care and Support signed by leaders across health, social care, local government and voluntary sector organisations.</p><p> </p><p>The purpose of the Declaration is to ensure that the views of people living with the effects of dementia and their families and carers are taken fully into account when determining the nature of post-diagnostic services offered.</p><p> </p><p>The Care Act 2014 further requires that when an individual is assessed as having eligible care and support needs, including those with dementia, they will have a personalised care plan that details their care and support needs, and how these will be met. The adult, their carer, and any other person the adult requests, must be involved in the development of the care plan, and agree with the content of the plan.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The February 2015 ‘Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia 2020’ publication set out an ambition for improved public awareness and understanding of the factors which increase the risk of developing dementia and of how people can reduce their risk by living more healthily.</p><p>Public Health England’s One You campaign launched in March 2016 aims to give adults the motivation and support they need to make simple lifestyle changes to improve their health now, and reduce the risk of developing conditions like dementia in the future. This includes things like eating well, moving more, quitting smoking and drinking less.</p> more like this
