That is why we have announced that the government will end so-called ‘no fault’ evictions by abolishing Section 21 of the Housing Act 1988. The government will shortly launch a new consultation on proposals to remove the ability of landlords to use ‘no fault’ evictions under Section 21 of the Housing Act 1988.</p><p>The government’s proposed measures will provide greater certainty for tenants and make the housing market fit for the 21st century. In housing benefit, the payment is, in practice, normally made direct to the landlord for those living in supported housing, and this is exactly the same in the proposed funding model for short-term supported housing. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/02/2018 answer text <p>The same amount of funding that would have been available through Housing Benefit or housing element of Universal Credit to fund supported housing in 2020/21 will be made available as grant instead.</p><p>The amount of short term supported housing grant funding for subsequent years will be set on the basis of current projections of future need (as informed by discussions with local authorities) and will continue to take account of the costs of provision in this part of the sector.</p><p>The short-term accommodation grant will remove the financial risk that providers face in relation to voids and arrears, enabling organisations to focus on the most important task of supporting their vulnerable tenants. We have also brought together a panel of external experts through the Rough Sleeping Advisory Panel, who will be working closely with the Taskforce in developing the strategy to achieve our manifesto commitments.</p><p>The Government has already taken important steps to prevent and reduce homelessness and rough sleeping.
