These investments have supported nearly 10 million children of all faiths in primary and nearly 6 million in secondary schools. Investing in building the resilience of countries, communities, and people can save lives, protect livelihoods, safeguard development gains, and help UK aid money go further.</p><p> </p><p>DFID’s flagship £140 million “Building Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Extremes and Disasters” programme is directly supporting 5 million people across the Sahel, East Africa and South Asia.</p><p> </p><p>DFID has also mainstreamed resilience across its work. This means that supporting countries and communities to better prepare for disasters is at the core of all our development and humanitarian programmes. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/03/2016 answer text <p>The Chief Social Worker for Adults is actively working with the profession to create a highly skilled, flexible workforce which is able to contribute to improved outcomes for people in all settings.</p><p> </p><p>She is developing a comprehensive framework for continuous professional development for adult social work, which will include development of specialisms in key areas of practice, such as dementia, end of life care and learning disabilities. This will provide a clear progression route for both newly qualified and experienced social workers to deepen their knowledge, skills and practice.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has funded four teaching partnerships which build on and enhance the existing arrangements between Higher Education Institutions and employers. The key aims are to improve the quality of education received by social work students, mainly through a greater experience of quality statutory placements and employer involvement in the selection of students and provision of placements.</p><p> </p><p>The Department has also developed Think Ahead, a new fast-track scheme for exceptional graduates and career-changers to become mental health social workers. We continue to provide local authorities with the tools and resources to enable them to share good practice.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Principal Social Workers are now in place in nearly every local authority and a number of National Health Service trusts, responsible for strong practice leadership in their organisations. They are supported by strong national and regional networks, with links to regional Association of Directors of Adult Social Services networks, helping to identify and share good social work practice. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/09/2017 answer text <p>The UK is supporting people in Lebanon by meeting the most urgent humanitarian needs of Syrian refugees and vulnerable host communities, investing in job opportunities and providing quality education to children in Lebanon. Since the start of the Syria crisis, DFID has provided nearly half a million cash grants and vouchers to vulnerable people to meet their basic needs, expanded the Lebanese education system to reach almost 300,000 Syrian children, and improved infrastructure and services in 51 of the most conflict-prone municipalities.
