	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/03/2017 answer text <p>Whilst we do not set out a minimum number of minutes a year, claimants moving into the work-related activity group (or the appropriate labour market regime in Universal Credit) will be offered support from a work coach. This includes an initial meeting with a work coach, which will provide tailored support for the claimant based on their individual circumstances and capabilities, with the aim of helping them prepare for work in the future. Follow up meetings will then be carried out, with the expectation that this support should be offered at least quarterly. We have seen almost 500,000 more disabled people in employment over the past three years. Over the same time we’ve seen the employment rate for disabled people increase by over 4 percentage points, where it now stands at 48 per cent.</p><p>We want to build on this. We are clear that sustained progress calls for action across the areas of welfare, employment and health. Although the Government has an important role to play in leading the way and facilitating change, everyone needs to play their part. That is why we have just published “<em>Improving Lives: The Work, Health and Disability Green Paper</em>”. It sets out the short-term action we intend to take to bring about change, alongside our intention to work with others to change perceptions and transform the culture around disability, health and work. The aim of the public consultation is to spark a proactive, wide-ranging and challenging conversation and build a consensus for change. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/03/2017 answer text <p>This Government is committed to its ambition to halve the disability employment gap and enable disabled people and people with long-term health conditions to access all the benefits that work can bring.</p><p> </p><p>The latest data shows that since 2015, almost 300,000 more working age disabled people are in employment and the disability employment rate has increased by almost 3 percentage points, now standing at 50 per cent. Over the same time we have seen improvements in the disability employment gap which now stands at around 31 percentage points, down from just below 34 percentage points in the same period in 2015. But we know that there is much more that needs to be done, so that everyone who can work is given the right support and opportunities to do so.</p><p> </p><p>Improving Lives, the Work, Health and Disability Green Paper published on 31<sup>st</sup> October 2016 sets out the short-term action we intend to take to bring about change. It also asked questions on ideas for longer-term reform over this Parliament and beyond through a formal national consultation, so that our systems, sectors and social attitudes all work together to help achieve the ambition of halving the disability employment gap. The consultation closed on 17<sup>th</sup> February 2017. We are grateful to the many individuals and organizations who have submitted responses. That’s why we spend around £50bn a year supporting people with disabilities and health conditions; approx. 2.5% of GDP and over 6% of all Government spending</p><p> </p><p>We have been very clear about the reasons we are making these changes to two of the activities within the PIP assessment criteria. Recent legal cases have broadened the way the PIP assessment criteria are interpreted. We need to clarify the criteria to restore the original aim of the policy and make sure we are giving the most support to those who need it most.</p><p> </p><p>These changes will not result in any claimants seeing a reduction in the amount of PIP previously awarded by DWP. It is not a change to the policy nor is it intended to make new savings.</p><p> </p><p>Many people experiencing psychological distress still qualify for PIP through other assessment criteria. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/01/2017 answer text <p>The ‘Improving Lives – the Work, Health and Disability Green Paper’ sets out the Government’s proposals for improving work and health outcomes for disabled people and people with long-term health conditions. It seeks views on these proposals across a range of health, employer, welfare and societal issues; asking key questions like ‘what will it take to transform the employment prospects of disabled people and people with long-term health conditions?’. This consultation is still on-going and we are gathering stakeholder’s views on these proposals.</p><p> </p><p>As set out during the passage of the Welfare Reform and Work Act 2016, in addition to existing support we are investing in additional practical support for claimants with limited capability for work from April 2017, rising from £60m in 2017/18 to £100m in 2020/21.
