	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/07/2017 answer text <p>The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has taken a number of steps to improve its prosecution of all strands of hate crime.</p><p>The CPS is prosecuting and convicting more defendants of hate crime than ever before. In 2015/16, the CPS completed 15,442 hate crime prosecutions, an increase of 704 on the previous year. The conviction rate also improved to 83.2% in 2015/16 an increase from 82.9% the previous year.</p><p>The CPS Annual Report and Accounts 2016/17 shows that the proportion of cases where the CPS was successful in achieving uplifted sentences for hate crime perpetrators has increased dramatically. The proportion rose from 33.8% in 2015/16, to 52.2% in 2016/17 – reaching 58.2% in the final quarter.</p><p>The CPS has delivered mandatory face to face disability hate crime training and racially and religiously aggravated hate crime training and is in the process of developing homophobic, biphobic and transphobic hate crime training to support prosecutors to more effectively deal with hate crime cases.</p><p><strong> </strong></p> answering member constituency South Swindon answering member printed Robert Buckland question first answered 20/07/2017 14:45:51 answering member 4106 label Biography information for Sir Robert Buckland

These are local schemes, and it is for local authorities to ensure that the effect on specific groups of council tax payers is proportionate and fair.</p><p>Spending on council tax benefit doubled under the last Government, costing taxpayers £4 billion a year – equivalent to almost £180 a year per household. Welfare reform is vital to tackle the budget deficit left by the last Administration. Our reforms to localise council tax support now give councils stronger incentives to support local firms, cut fraud, promote local enterprise and get people into work. These include that the planning policies and decisions of local planning authorities should support the expansion of electronic communications networks, such as 5G.</p><p>We have also introduced a range of permitted development rights to support the delivery of mobile infrastructure, including legislating for higher masts in 2016, whilst also protecting local amenity.</p><p>We hope that these measures will be used by industry, alongside proactive engagement with the planning system, to ensure delivery of 5G. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/01/2017 answer text <p>This Government is investing £9.4 billion to deliver 400,000 affordable housing starts by March 2021, including Shared Ownership, Rent to Buy, Affordable Rent and Starter Homes – the largest housing programme by any government since the 1970s. Government has recently agreed a major package of funding for London - £3.15 billion over the period 2015 to 2021, to deliver at least 90,000 affordable homes by March 2021. These include at least 58,500 homes that provide working Londoners with the opportunities to own a home over time – homes for shared ownership and homes offered at ‘London Living Rent’ that will actively support tenants into home ownership within ten years. London will also get a share of the additional £1.4 billion investment in the Affordable Homes Programme announced at Autumn Statement.</p><p>Any worker can benefit from all our housing offers, provided that they are otherwise unable to afford to purchase or rent on the open market and meet the eligibility criteria. Many local authorities also provide their own local housing schemes for local workers. The deadlines for the Fund have been set based on what we know about registrants and their readiness to be able to deliver projects. We recognise, however, that meeting these deadlines may not be possible in all circumstances, for instance where applicants find that they do not have sufficient time to complete a robust and satisfactory procurement process in order to meet the 30 June deadline. More time may be permitted on a case by case basis, providing applicants continue to keep delivery partners fully informed and provide them with realistic timetables.</p><p> </p><p>The announcement on 10 February of an additional £3.5 billion of funding provides assurance for residents that all eligible applications to the Building Safety Fund will be able to proceed. The ban was introduced to remove any uncertainty for building developers, designers, contractors and suppliers as to what materials are classified for use in the external walls of buildings. <br> <br> The ban limits materials that can be used to those achieving the two highest classifications. We expect all cladding materials to have been subject to the relevant safety checks and approved before the material can be used on a building.
