We have prioritised child sexual abuse as a national threat to empower police forces to maximise their specialist skills and expertise, and have invested significantly in transforming the police response to child sexual abuse through the Police Transformation Fund.</p><p><br>Operation Hydrant was established to co-ordinate efforts across policing to respond to the increasing volume of non-recent child sexual abuse cases being reported. We have supported Operation Hydrant with £11.8m of po-lice Special Grant funding to date. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/04/2019 answer text <p>On 1 April the Home Secretary published a consultation on a new legal duty to support a multi-agency or ‘public health’ approach to preventing and tackling serious violence. This builds on the programme of work outlined in the Serious Violence Strategy, published in April 2018, which brings together a range of partners across different sectors to form a multi-agency response.</p><p>This approach involves partners across different sectors, such as education, health, social services, offender management services, housing, youth and victim services, working closely with community and faith leaders, and the voluntary and charitable sectors, to take joint action to address the underlying risk factors that increase the likelihood that an individual will become a victim or a perpetrator of violence.</p><p>Our consultation seeks information on the potential impact on agencies and a full cost assessment will be undertaken on the preferred option. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/06/2018 answer text <p>The Government is aware of the reports and concerns surrounding the practice of ‘sex for rent.’ Offering accommodation in return for sex or sexual favours is illegal and those who do so can face up to seven years in prison.</p><p>Protecting those who are vulnerable from exploitation is one of the Government’s key priorities and we are working with the police and CPS to ensure that those profiting from exploitation are dealt with criminally.</p><p>The law on sexual assault is clear and unequivocal. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/12/2018 answer text <p>Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV has been shown to be an effective intervention to reduce the risk of HIV infection. A randomised controlled trial of PrEP in the United Kingdom found an 86% reduction in the risk of HIV infection in gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men prescribed PrEP. A finding supported by data from New South Wales in Australia where a rapid decline in HIV diagnoses was seen in the 12 months following the introduction of PrEP.</p><p> </p><p>With the development of internet self-purchasing in 2015, PrEP use in England is thought to have quadrupled during 2016 so that an estimated 3,000 gay and bisexual men were taking PrEP by year end. It is probable that this scale-up of PrEP use will have had an effect at reducing underlying HIV incidence, additional to the effect of intensified HIV testing and the immediate treatment of those newly diagnosed as living with HIV. However, it is too soon to estimate the size of this additional effect from available data.
