Over 220 children were transferred to the UK under section 67 when the Calais camp was cleared in late 2016. Since then we have been making further progress with participating States to refer and transfer more eligible children to move closer to the commitment to transfer 480 children.</p><p>Relocation of eligible children to the UK is dependent on the availability of appropriate local authority care placements. The Home Office recognises the highly valuable work that local authorities undertake in supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) which is why we have significantly increased the funding paid as a contribution to their costs. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/05/2019 answer text <p>The Home Office works with carriers through the Carrier Liaison network, through regular stakeholder engagement groups, and through Airlines UK and the Board of Airline Representatives UK.</p><p>We have regular communication with the International Air Transport Association to ensure their Timatic tool, used by airlines and travel agents to verify passenger travel document requirements, is clear and up-to-date with the UK’s visa requirements.</p><p>We have also launched a passenger information campaign which includes an information toolkit for stakeholders including carriers. We do not have a separate code or field for children’s nationality applications. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/03/2019 answer text <p>The Home Office has put in place a comprehensive vulnerability strategy to ensure that the EU Settlement Scheme is accessible for all, including children in care. <br>A user group of external stakeholders who represent the needs of vulnerable individuals has been established to work with the Home Office to understand relevant risks and issues and to ensure the right support arrangements are in place for applicants. We are also engaging with relevant stakeholders such as the Department for Education, Local Government Association and Association of Directors of Children’s Services to assess the needs of this group and ensure they are met. <br>a) The Department for Education (DfE) and Home Office have agreed that local authorities in England will need to ensure that applications for the scheme are made on behalf of all looked after children who are EU citizens and for whom they have parental responsibility.</p><p>For children accommodated by the local authority under section 20 of the Children Act 1989: Local authorities will raise awareness of the Settlement Scheme to those with parental responsibility for eligible child(ren), provide practical support where needed, or signpost to relevant community support where this is deemed more appropriate.</p><p>This process has also been agreed for children in care in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. <br>b) The Home Office has announced grant funding of up to £9 million for voluntary and community sector organisation to support vulnerable EU citizens who might need additional help when applying for the Settlement Scheme. <br>Specific guidance and resources for local authorities and community leaders is being produced to inform vulnerable groups about the application process and the need to apply.</p> answering member constituency Romsey and Southampton North answering member printed Caroline Nokes question first answered 21/03/2019 15:26:48 answering member 4048 label Biography information for Caroline Nokes

But this must also be balanced with our responsibility to Border Security, checking 100% of passports and making sure that anyone or anything that might cause harm to the UK is properly dealt with.</p><p>The experience for British and other EEA nationals is further enhanced where those passengers travel using biometric passports as they can use our ePassport gates.</p><p>There are 264 e-Passport Gates now operational at 23 air and rail terminals including Paris Gare du Nord and Brussels Gare du Mid, and e-Passport Gates usage continues to increase, linked to the increase availability of e-Passports.
