star this property answer text <p>The Period Poverty Taskforce has made excellent progress in bringing together organisations such as the PSHE Association from the public sector, the phs group from the private sector, Bloody Good Period from the third sector and other experts to tackle period poverty in the UK. The Taskforce and its composite workstreams have met twice and begun to identify: access barriers and the groups that are most affected by them; a programme of work to tackle stigma and shame surrounding menstruation; and research priorities to improve the evidence surrounding period poverty and menstrual stigma in the UK.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We are actively promoting female role models on our new ‘Women in Enterprise’ web page (<a href="http://www.greatbusiness.gov.uk/women-in-enterprise/" target="_blank">http://www.greatbusiness.gov.uk/women-in-enterprise/</a> ) and as part of our Great Business campaign. We have invested £1.9m in the Get Mentoring project, which recruited and trained over 6000 mentors to specifically support female entrepreneurs. We announced earlier this month that we would build on this programme by holding a series of ‘Meet a Mentor’ events for women in venues across the UK.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government does not recognise ‘gay conversion therapy’ as a legitimate treatment. We have already worked with the main registration and accreditation bodies for psychotherapy and counselling practitioners, including the UK Council for Psychotherapy, to develop a Memorandum of Understanding to end this practice.</p><p>The Government are not aware of widespread instances of gay conversion therapy happening in the UK but we want to develop a better understanding of the extent to which it is being practised. That is why we included questions on this topic in our national LGBT survey, which was launched this summer.</p><p>We will publish the survey results and our response in the new year.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>I regularly discuss with ministerial colleagues the Government’s commitment to the protection and advancement of women’s rights both domestically and overseas. In the summer we hosted two global events – a summit with a focus on preventing sexual violence in conflict which generated strong international support; and a girl summit. The Girl Summit brought together a range of international stakeholders to accelerate momentum in tackling child, early and forced marriage and female genital mutilation and to rally a global movement to end the practices everywhere within a generation.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We are also strong supporters of a stand-alone goal on gender equality and women’s empowerment in the post-2015 development framework.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>This Government is prioritising high-value investment, particularly in infrastructure and innovation, to drive economic growth and raise productivity. At Autumn Statement, the Chancellor increased the Welsh Government’s capital budget by £436m. This is in addition to the £500m in borrowing powers we committed to three years ago. These measures enable the Welsh Government to invest directly in modernising Wales’ infrastructure for the benefit of people throughout Wales.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Between 2016 and this summer, the government has provided over £6bn of additional funding for departments and devolved administrations to prepare for EU exit. This has all been core funding, for any scenario.</p><p> </p><p>In addition to this core funding, the Chancellor announced £2.1bn on 1 August 2019 specifically to prepare for leaving the EU without a deal.</p><p> </p><p>Further to these allocations of funding, on 30 September 2019 the government reaffirmed its funding guarantee if the UK leaves the EU without a deal and should the EU cease to fund UK organisations after EU exit. This guarantee relates to UK organisations in receipt of certain EU programme funding. The total amount expected to be covered by the guarantee would be £4.3bn for this financial year.</p> more like this
