star this property answer text <p /> <p>The Department continues to work with The Pensions Regulator to support micro employers in meeting their automatic enrolment duties as simply and cost effectively as possible. This includes working with accountants, bookkeepers, payroll bureaus and other intermediaries to ensure they are ready to support smaller employers effectively.</p><p> </p><p>The first cohort of the smallest employers began to comply with their automatic enrolment duties from 1 June this year. We continue to receive feedback about the experience of employers. We are learning all the time and have adapted and improved the process and the support available.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p /> <p>The Department continues to work with The Pensions Regulator to support the smallest employers in meeting their automatic enrolment duties as simply and cost effectively as possible. The Regulator has provided guidance for employers on choosing a pension scheme and is continuing to consider how best to support employers in this important decision.</p><p> </p><p>The Government introduced a package of measures in April to strengthen governance in schemes used for automatic enrolment and protect members from high or inappropriate charges. This includes the introduction of a 0.75 per cent cap on charges in the default funds of schemes used for automatic enrolment.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is a self-financing, independent regulator that is accountable to Parliament through the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA). The PSA assesses the HCPC’s performance, conduct audits, scrutinise their decisions and report to Parliament.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>It is for the council of the HCPC to set their fees at a level which ensures they can fulfil their statutory role of protecting, promoting and maintaining the health and safety of the public.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Department understands that the HCPC publicly consulted on raising its registrant fee and as part of that process explained the raise was for a number of reasons: to fund the periodic fee it is required to pay the PSA; to enable the HCPC to operate more flexibly and efficiently; and to ensure the HCPC’s financial viability in the medium to long term.</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>Spending on mental health is estimated to have increased by £302 million in 2014/15, with total mental health spending rising from £11.362 billion in 2013/14 to £11.664 billion planned in 2014/15, an increase of 0.6% in real terms. In the planning requirements for 2015/16, commissioners were required to invest additionally in mental health in line with their increase in allocation. The total planned additional spend is £376 million, an increase of 4.5%.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>From March this year NHS England has led the Mental Health Taskforce. The Taskforce brings together health and care leaders and experts in the field, including people using services, to lead a programme of work to create a mental health Five Year Forward View for the National Health Service in England.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Mental Health Taskforce will:</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>- oversee the publication of a new ‘life course’ national mental health strategy published in the summer of 2015, which builds on recent policy;</p><p> </p><p>- address equality and human rights commitments relating to the mental health of our population;</p><p> </p><p>- take a collective approach to cross-system leadership in development of the strategy and propose robust approaches to implementation following publication;</p><p> </p><p>- make comprehensive recommendations on the mechanisms and data requirements to implement the mental health strategy and to monitor delivery and outcomes of it;</p><p> </p><p>- ensure that priorities, costs and benefits within the strategy are assessed;</p><p> </p><p>- identify strategic and directional risks and issues, and work to resolve these; and</p><p> </p><p>- ensure that people with personal experience of mental health problems, their families and carers, and wider stakeholders are engaged appropriately and consistently in the delivery, monitoring and governance of the strategy.</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p>This will inform considerations for mental health funding in the next spending review.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) does not regulate care workers. The HCPC currently regulates arts therapists, biomedical scientists, chiropodists/podiatrists, clinical scientists, dietitians, hearing aid dispensers, occupational therapists, operating department practitioners, orthoptists, paramedics, physiotherapists, practitioner psychologists, prosthetists/orthotists, radiographers, social workers in England and speech and language therapists.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>It is for the council of the HCPC to set their fees at a level which ensures they can fulfil their statutory role of protecting, promoting and maintaining the health and safety of the public.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>All health and care professional regulators review their fees on an on-going basis. We are not aware of any evidence to suggest that this increase of £10 per year will impact on recruitment and retention.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p>
