star this property answer text <p>The Foreign Secretary met his Emirati counterpart in a meeting of the Yemen Quad on 27 September at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. He urged his counterpart to seize the opportunity for political progress. The Emirati Foreign Minister underlined his complete support for the UN process led by Special Envoy Martin Griffiths. They discussed the destabilising effect of Iran on Yemen and the wider region, how to put in place confidence-building measures following the breakdown of the Geneva peace talks, and how they could provide greater assistance to the Yemeni people by facilitating the entry of humanitarian and commercial goods into Yemen.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Since the Referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union the Government has recruited, or is in the process of recruiting, 13 additional members of staff to work on economic issues at the UK Mission in Geneva, including the UK’s engagement in the World Trade Organization. Staff were recruited either internally from the Civil Service or locally in Geneva. All recruitment was carried out in-house by existing government HR teams and the specific costs attributable for the recruitment for these positions at the UK Mission are not readily available. There was no recruitment (or advertising) through external suppliers. We continue to keep the level of staffing at the UK Mission under review.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Like all pesticides, Roundup (a range of weedkillers containing glyphosate) is subject to strict regulation to ensure that its use will not harm people or have unacceptable effects on the environment.</p><p> </p><p>The European Commission decided in December 2017 to approve glyphosate for continuing use until December 2022. The decision followed a scientific risk assessment by the European Food Safety Authority, which included a very close scrutiny of the evidence on whether glyphosate causes cancer. UK experts participated in that assessment and supported its conclusions.</p><p> </p><p>All pesticide products, including Roundup, are tightly regulated by the Health and Safety Executive. They are only authorised for use if scientific data demonstrates that they will not harm people or have unacceptable effects on the environment.</p><p> </p><p>We will continue to keep an active watch on the scientific evidence on glyphosate.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this
