star this property answer text
The price of bioethanol is set by the global fuels market and a range of factors will influence this, including production and raw material costs and the relative price of fuels and other commodities.

In September the Government published its response to a consultation on proposed amendments to the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation. It is available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/renewable-transport-fuel-obligations-order-government-response. The analysis of the costs and benefits of the proposals included in Annex A of that document identifies market price developments i.e. how renewable fuel prices change in relation to fossil fuel prices, as an area with some uncertainty. To address this uncertainty, the analysis considers the impact of our proposals under low, central and high projections of the price spreads between renewable fuels and fossil fuels.

The 15 year strategy for renewable transport fuels provided by the Government’s Response is designed to provide a strong and growing market in the UK which should benefit existing domestic investments as well as encouraging further opportunities in this area.

star this property answer text
The European Union (Withdrawal) Bill will convert European Union law into UK law as it applies in the UK at the moment of exit. This will ensure that, wherever possible, the same rules and laws will apply the day after exit as they did before.

The Government is still making a detailed assessment of what corrections will be required to make that law function appropriately on exit day. The Government’s current estimate is that we will need to make between 800 and 1,000 statutory instruments to make exit effective in UK law.
more like this

star this property answer text
The Department’s survey of hand-held mobile phone use and seat belt compliance has been designed primarily to produce national rather than regional estimates for Great Britain. A new survey for 2017 is currently being procured, which includes options to allow extra surveys to be commissioned for specific areas, including by Transport for London to secure London level data.

The survey will record data about taxi and private hire vehicles; however, no currently tested methodology enables information to be gathered about the use of cradled mobile telephones using roadside observation.
more like this
