We have developed a detailed minimum specification in partnership with stakeholders to ensure that devices are appropriate to schools’ requirements and represent value-for-money. A reverse auction has been held and competitive bids submitted. The outcome of the process remains subject to approval. We expect to make an announcement in early December.
more like this

star this property answer text
Total spend in the current and future financial years by the Department’s National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) on research on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) depends on the volume and quality of scientific activity. The usual practice of the NIHR is not to designate funds for expenditure on particular topics: research proposals in all areas compete for the funding available. The NIHR welcomes funding applications for research into any aspect of human health, including IPF. These applications are subject to peer review and judged in open competition, with awards being made on the basis of the importance of the topic to patients and the National Health Service, value for money and scientific quality.

In 2013-14, the NIHR spent £0.6 million on research on IPF through research programmes, research centres and units, and research fellowships. Total spend by the NIHR on research on this disease is higher than this because expenditure by the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) on IPF cannot be disaggregated from total CRN expenditure.
