As with all responses, we are considering this suggestion carefully as we develop the detailed criteria for our ultra low emission vehicle support package for the period 2015-2020. This is to be undertaken in two phases: as part of the Northern Hub early phases, there will be improvements from Manchester to Sowerby Bridge and later, with independent local funding, improvements are being promoted by West Yorkshire Combined Authority between Sowerby Bridge and Bradford. The two schemes together should cut the journey time to 53 minutes, which is approaching an around 9 per cent saving on the current best journey time.

more like this

star this property answer text
Direct services between Manchester and Bradford will remain at typically 2 trains per hour as part of the Integrated Rail Plan. However, a similar journey time should be possible by instead changing at Leeds onto NPR services, making use of the electrification and upgrade of the Calder Valley Line from Bradford to Leeds which will reduce journey times to as low as 12 minutes. That would give up to quadrupling of typical frequency.
more like this
