Our ambitious Industrial Strategy comprises policies to build an economy fit for the future, helping to foster a competitive environment where businesses can have the confidence to invest in UK manufacturing and thrive.</p><p> </p><p>Around 20% of the 2,072 new inward FDI projects in 2017/18 were in the areas of advanced manufacturing and life sciences. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/09/2018 answer text <p>The level of UK content by value in domestically produced vehicles increased to 44 per cent in 2017, up from 36 per cent in 2011.</p><p> </p><p>As part of the Automotive Sector Deal, the government committed to invest £16m, subject to business case, for an industry led programme to raise the competitiveness and productivity of UK suppliers. That means using our record investments in infrastructure to unlock growth in every part of the country; using the major new investment in research. This includes a commitment to increase total R&amp;D investment to 2.4% of GDP by 2027 to support innovative manufacturing businesses across the country; and encouraging inward investment. We will create the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, a domestic programme of investment, to boost productivity and reduce economic inequality across the country following our departure from the European Union.</p><p> </p><p>The Clean Growth Strategy sets out our policies and proposals for decarbonising the UK economy through the 2020s, building on the UK’s significant progress to date. Through our Industrial Strategy, we are committed to making the UK the best place in Europe to own and grow a manufacturing business and are working closely with industry to secure a strong future for UK manufacturers and their employees.
