	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/01/2016 answer text <p>We have taken this question to relate specifically to those involved in policing in light of the recent disciplinary action taken against two Police Officers working for Sussex police on probation who attended the scene of the crash in September 2015.</p><p>There are clear standards of behaviour for those involved in policing. Standards of Professional Behaviour for police officers are underpinned by the policing Code of Ethics, developed by the College of Policing and laid before Parliament in July 2014. The Code outlines the expectations of all who are involved in policing and which should be upheld in all circumstances. Forces are responsible for providing guidance to their officers and staff in terms of the appropriate handling of any such incidents including the taking of photos and videos, as well as maintaining discipline within the force according to the Standards of Professional Behaviour for policing. The College of Policing, which was established by the Home Office in October 2012, has published information on its website on the appropriate way to post information online for those working in policing.</p><p>The Home Office cannot intervene or comment on individual cases, which are a matter for individual forces.</p><p>Where such incidents take place and the conduct of those involved in policing falls below the expected standards, it is for individual forces to investigate such allegations and instigate disciplinary proceedings where it is appropriate to do so. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/02/2019 answer text <p>The Department for Education has made no recent assessments of the impact of child protection procedures on families affected by myalgic encephalomyelitis.</p><p>Local authorities must undertake enquiries if they believe a child has suffered or is likely to suffer significant harm and decide if any action must be taken under section 47 of the Children Act 1989. Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018) sets out the parameters and principles of high quality child protection assessments and procedures. The local authority is under a duty to safeguard and promote the child’s welfare and child protection decisions are based on the professional judgement of social workers and the circumstances of the individual child. The strategy sets out the key risk factors which may mean a young person may have a greater propensity to get involved in crime than would otherwise be the case such as school absence and peer pressure.</p><p>The strategy also outlines the importance of early intervention to tackle criminal involvement by young people and the importance of providing positive activities to help them lead productive lives free from crime. We would only record the allegation if the information was volunteered to us and was relevant to the person’s immigration status. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/01/2023 answer text <p>The safety and welfare of all those in our care is of the utmost importance and we accept nothing but the highest standards from those companies employed to provide detention and escorting services on our behalf.</p><p>Individuals detained in the immigration detention estate must be treated in accordance with the Detention Centre Rules 2001, the operating standards for IRCs and Detention Services Orders. Service providers for IRCs are contractually required to comply with all relevant UK legislation.</p><p>Immigration removal centres (IRC) suppliers are required to provide a safe and secure environment for detained individuals in their care and the conditions and facilities at all immigration detention facilities are kept under regular review.</p><p>IRCs are subject to statutory oversight by His Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Prisons and by Independent Monitoring Boards who are both members of the National Preventative Mechanism comprising a group of independent bodies which monitor the treatment of and conditions for detained individuals. This contributes to the UK’s response to its international obligations under the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (OPCAT).</p><p>The European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) visited the UK from 25 to 28 November 2022 and met the Minister for Immigration and senior officials. Although there is no statutory time limit on immigration detention under Immigration Act powers, the law does not allow indefinite detention.</p><p>Under the adults at risk in immigration detention policy – which is part of the Government’s response to Stephen Shaw’s review of the welfare of vulnerable people in immigration detention - the consideration of any vulnerability, including mental health, is based on a case-by-case assessment of the appropriateness of detention for each individual. All individuals detained also have ready access to medical professionals and health care, including mental health services. In all cases, detention is kept under regular review to ensure that it is necessary, appropriate and takes into account the welfare of those detained.</p><p>The Home Office has published guidelines on acceptable room capacity in immigration removal centres, which build on requirements set out in secondary legislation. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/04/2022 answer text <p>Domestic abuse is a terrible crime and tackling it is a key commitment for this Government. Our landmark Domestic Abuse Act and Tackling Domestic Abuse Plan will provide further protections to the millions of people who experience domestic abuse, as well as strengthen measures to tackle perpetrators. The Plan commits over £230 million of funding to address four key areas to improve the response; Prioritising Prevention, Supporting Victims, Pursuing Perpetrators and creating a Stronger System. The Plan’s approach speaks to all victims of domestic abuse and will help and support all victims, including men.</p><p>The Government is committed to supporting all victims of domestic abuse regardless of gender and the statutory definition of domestic abuse introduced by the Act is gender neutral. Although male victims are included in the Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy, and Tackling Domestic Abuse Plan, the Government recognises that there can be some specific challenges that men and boys face in relation to domestic abuse.</p><p>In 2019 we published the first ever cross-Government Male Victims Position Statement, a dedicated statement to recognise the needs of male victims, and to clarify and strengthen our response to them. In March 2022 we published a refreshed version of this document which took into account the feedback from the recent Call for Evidence, recognising the additional challenges which can be faced by men and boys who are victims of these crimes.</p><p>The Government funds a range of organisations that provide specialist support to victims. From 2019-2022, the Government has allocated £168,000 a year for the Men’s Advice Line, the national helpline for male victims of domestic abuse, run by the charity Respect. This service offers advice and emotional support to male victims of domestic abuse and signposts to other vital services that help keep them, and their children, safe.</p><p>The Men’s Advice line is comprised of a confidential helpline, email and webchat service. In 2021, they handled over 10,000 calls, resulting in increased safety for male victims and their children. This is achieved through practical support including safety planning, accessing housing options and signposting to free legal advice as well as emotional and listening support. In addition to this amount, the Government provided a funding uplift in 2020/21 of a further £151,000 to support the continued running of the service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
