star this property answer text <p>There are four Trafalgar Class and three Astute Class submarines currently in service at various stages of their operating cycle. Attack submarines are operationally capable and ready, and our submarines are meeting their operational taskings.</p><p> </p><p>It is UK policy that we do not comment on matters relating to submarine activity or operations.</p><p> </p><p>The normal operating cycle of every submarine includes periods at reduced levels of readiness to enable maintenance and training programmes, and to allow Service personnel to have time with their families.</p><p> </p><p>HMS Ambush is undergoing repairs at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The P-8 Poseidon has been acquired by the USA, India and Australia. Norway also plans to buy the aircraft.</p><p>The number of Allies operating (or potentially operating) the P-8A in the future offers the opportunity for refined interoperability in both exercise and operational scenarios.</p><p>The Ministry of Defence and the RAF conduct regular discussions with key allies, including the USA, on interoperability. For the P-8A Poseidon programme this includes the Seedcorn Initiative which has enabled the RAF to sustain the skills required to operate fixed-wing Maritime Patrol Aircraft. We are also a key contributor to International Maritime exercises, including the Joint Warrior series of exercises which are hosted by the United Kingdom.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>No viable UK bid was received by the Prime Contractor, BAE Systems, to supply the specialised steel required for this part of the Successor submarine manufacture.</p><p>Other stages of construction will include grades of steel manufactured by British suppliers and we expect them to take the opportunity to bid.</p><p>The Successor programme represents billions of pounds of investment in thousands of British jobs across hundreds of companies from Scotland to the South East.</p><p>85% of BAE System's supply chain for the new submarines is based in the UK.</p> more like this
