Friend the then Minister for Skills and Enterprise (Matthew Hancock) met with the four nation Ministers including Dr Stephen Farry, MLA, Minister for Employment and Learning, on 19 June 2014.</p><p>He updated Ministers on the review of apprenticeships and trailblazer reforms in England.</p><p>Dr Stephen Farry informed Ministers that Northern Ireland would be producing a new strategy on apprenticeships and this was formally announced on 24 June 2014.</p><p>Ministers agreed that an official-level group would be beneficial and my Rt. Hon. Friend. the now Minister for Business and Energy Matthew Hancock suggested extending the remit of the UK strategic policy forum to include apprenticeships. 	answer	answer answer text <p>On 28 October National Grid announced that it will procure 1.1 GW of additional de-rated capacity though Supplemental Balancing Reserve (SBR) and Demand Side Balancing Reserve (DSBR) for the winter of 2014/15. DECC supports the decisive action taken by National Grid and Ofgem and views the amount procured as a sensible and prudent step in order to provide the necessary degree of resilience for times of very high demand.</p><p>This action will increase capacity margins from around 4% to over 6%; a higher level than we had between 2005/06 and 2007/8 and well within the Government’s reliability standard.</p><p>This means that we will continue to benefit from secure electricity supplies even with further unexpected outages or a very cold winter.</p> question first answered 06/11/2014 16:08:14 answering member 4070

The security situation in this region makes it difficult to obtain verifiable information on the precise number of abductions that have taken place or the gender of those involved. 	answer	answer answer text <p>The Chief Medical Officer wrote to National Health Service medical and nursing directors on 19 September seeking volunteers to help efforts on the ground in West Africa. Currently over 1000 NHS staff and 185 staff from Public Health England have put their names forward through UK MED which runs the <em>UK International Emergency Medical Register </em>(UKIEMR).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The programme comprises a robust selection process, pre-deployment vaccinations and occupational health and psychological screening, training in the UK with further training and mentoring in Sierra Leone, and advice and support on monitoring health on return. Since 2010, we have clamped down on illegal immigration.<br><br>The Immigration Act 2014 is a landmark piece of legislation which builds on the Government’s ongoing reforms to our immigration system to ensure it works in our national interest.<br><br>The Act will have a major impact on the Home Office’s work to secure our borders, enforce our immigration laws and continue to attract the brightest and the best to the UK.<br><br>The Act puts the law firmly on the side of those who respect it, not those who break it. <br><br>Key measures from the Act which are now in force including the introduction of enhanced duties for registrars to report suspected sham marriages and civil partnerships; new powers to streamline the recovery of illegal working penalties; the ability to remove harmfulindividuals before their appeals are heard if there is no risk of serious irreversible harm.<br><br>The Act also Strengthens requirements for the courts to have regard to Parliament’s view of the public interest in immigration cases raising Article 8-making clear the right to a family life is not to be regarded as absolute and unqualified.<br><br>New powers to revoke the driving licences of known illegal immigrants are also included in the Act.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> question first answered 26/11/2014 15:24:28 answering member 1530
