star this property answer text <p>Taiwan is an important trading partner for the UK. Our bilateral trade was £6.6bn in 2018, an increase of 16.4% from 2017. UK exports to Taiwan grew by 40% from £1.96bn to £2.76bn (latest [ONS] data). As we leave the EU, we are committed to strengthening our trade partnership with Taiwan, and across Asia Pacific, including through the annual UK-Taiwan Trade Talks – due to take place in London in October. The Department of International Trade’s Ministers visited Taiwan twice last year, and events like the Taipei Smart Cities Summit and Expo held in March are a crucial way to strengthen relationships in key sectors.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The new partnerships grant funding announced on 7 June at the Schools Together Group annual conference, aims to raise the ambition for what schools can achieve together, and to remove a key financial barrier to new partnerships forming. It is designed to attract bids from both new partnerships who may benefit from seed funding, as well as existing partnerships looking to deepen and expand their collaborations. We will publish further details and invite schools to submit bids in the autumn.</p><p>As part of this programme, the department also plans to conduct evaluation on the success of this grant in increasing the quality and impact of partnerships. star this property answer text <p>The Government published a Draft Registration of Overseas Entities Bill on 23 July 2018.</p><p> </p><p>A Joint Committee was appointed to consider and report on the Draft Bill. The Committee made recommendations in a report to both Houses, published on 20 May 2019. The Government welcomes the Committee’s thorough and helpful scrutiny of the Bill. We are considering their recommendations and will publish a response in due course.</p><p> </p><p>The Government intends to introduce the Bill to Parliament early in the second session. Following Royal Assent and the making of secondary legislation, the Government anticipates that the register will be operational in 2021.</p> more like this

Between 2015/16 and 2017/18, the number of appointments (including re-appointments) made to women rose from 45% to 48% and to those with a declared disability from 4% to 7%. In 2017/2018 appointments to candidates from a BAME background (where declared) were at 8.4%.</p><p>But there is still more to do. We have carefully considered the recommendations put forward by Lord Holmes of Richmond in his review. As I set out in my response to my Noble friend’s Oral question in 09 May, we are aiming to publish our response to his review’s recommendations, together with a refreshed Public Appointment Diversity Action Plan, around the end of June.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Deed of Forfeiture bridge facility agreed between Government and British Steel Limited provides legal protections to give Government control of 2019 EU ETS allowances, even under the scenario of insolvency.</p><p> </p><p>Under the Deed of Forfeiture agreed between the company and British Steel Limited, the company’s 2019 allowances will be assigned to the Government once issued, and the proceeds from selling these is expected to cover the costs of purchasing the allowances. Greybull are not party to this Deed of Forfeiture, and as a result of the liquidation, day-to-day control has passed to the liquidator of British Steel Limited.</p><p> </p><p>The terms of the commercial agreement between Government and British Steel are set out in letters from the Permanent Secretary of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to the Chair of the Public Accounts Committee and the Comptroller &amp; Auditor General, copies of which have been placed in the Libraries of both Houses.</p>
